“You’re such an arsehole,” I grumble. But I’m not going to fight him on this. Yes, it’s incredibly uncomfortable, but that’s the whole point of this stupid list. What I need is a way to level the field—to push Alastor out of his comfort zone the way he’s pushing me.

ON SATURDAY MORNING,I make my way over to Alastor’s place. The last time I was here I was engaged to his best friend, and we were doing our best to pretend we didn’t hate each other. Fun times.

“What are you doing here?” Alastor demands, glowering at me standing on his doorstep. He looks like he’s just woken up, his hair even more wild than usual, face covered in scruff, and his lean, muscular body clad in nothing but a pair of black boxer briefs.

I arch an eyebrow at him. “Late start today?”

“It’s Saturday, Macey. People sleep in on Saturdays.”

I shrug. “I’ve been up for ages. Went down to Geelong

for a surf this morning.”

He just blinks at me for a long moment, then shakes his

head. “You’re a fucking masochist.”

“Anyway...” I push past him into the house and

Alastor shuffles along behind me. From the corner of my eye, I can see him yawning and stretching out his muscles as he walks. I glance back at him, one eyebrow quirked. “Big night last night?”

He smirks at me. “Funnight. I’d have brought you along, but I didn’t think you were ready yet.”

My brow furrows in confusion. “Ready for what?”

Alastor shrugs. “Group sex. Don’t worry, we’ll be hanging out again in a couple of weeks so you can come then.”

“You want to bring me to an orgy?” I ask, a nervous squeak entering my voice.

“It’s not an orgy,” he clarifies. “It’s just a bunch of mates getting together to hang out and have sex.”

Yeah, pretty sure that’s what an orgy is. And he wants me to...what, exactly? Watch? Join in?

Before I can get too worked up over the possibilities, I remind myself I have a safe word so if there’s anything I don’t want to do, I don’t have to.

I also have the power to make Alastor’s life hell with my own list that I’ve cultivated for him.

“What are you doing here, anyway?” Alastor asks. “I don’t remember inviting you.”

“I wanted to show you my list.”

He quirks a brow at me. “Your list?”

I nod, smirking at him. “You’re too set in your ways,

Alastor. You need to step out of your comfort zone and I’m going to help you do it.” I tug my phone from my pocket and wave it around. “With this.”

Alastor lets out a scoff of amusement. “What is it, a vanilla list? You’re going to make me take bubble baths or some shit?”

“Not exactly.” I hand him the phone, unable to wipe the smirk from my face. “It’s not a sex list. It’s a life list.”

He looks down at the screen, his expression growing more and more incredulous as he reads. “Are you shitting me? ‘Get a new hairstyle of Jack’s choice’? Hell no. ‘Get surfing lessons from Jack.’ No fucking way—I hate rough water and there’s no way I’m trusting you not to drown me.” He looks up at me, eyes full of fiery anger as he growls, “You arenotdriving the Falcon!”

“That’s just your kneejerk reaction because you’re so stuck in your ways,” I parrot. “You can always use a safe word if you really don’t want to do something, but you should wait until the situation actually arises.”

Alastor’s glare morphs into a look of challenge. “Do you think coming up with this list is going to make me give up on yours and just let you off the hook?”

I shake my head. “No. And I don’t want you to. I get what you’re trying to do, and I think there’s a chance it could actually work.” I pin him with an intent look, communicating just how sincere I am about this point. “But I need to level the playing field here. I can’t just have you dictating my life and walking all over me.”
