“I think we need clarification on what exactly you mean,” Angel said. “Specifics.”

“No women. No me seeing any female in any sort of capacity. I mean it. It’s time for some serious life changes.” It had gone past a single guy having fun to costing the fire department time and money and leaving him temporarily homeless. He needed to calm his dating life the fuck down.

“What’s going on?”

He turned toward the calm, mildly curious woman’s voice coming from the sidewalk.

His eyes nearly bugged out of his head.

All thoughts of staying away from the opposite sex evaporated. Gone.

Because this woman was gorgeous. She had thick dark hair and long legs with a narrow waist. She was wearing very little clothing, just a loose crop top and tiny cotton sleep shorts. He forgot that his balls were suffocating in the humidity and the women’s jeans and thanked the universe for the blistering August heat wave that afforded him a view of all that glorious bare skin.

His mouth went hot and his dick went hard, which was obvious in the tight jeans.

The mystery woman stood next to his next-door neighbor, Mrs. Wilson, who thought he was a despicable manwhore. Her words, not his, though he would only argue with despicable.

The brunette seemed to sense his stare. She turned and flicked her gaze over the length of him. Her eyebrows went up. She frowned, which did exactly nothing to mar her beauty. She had a perfect nose, high cheekbones, and thick, full lips that he wanted to suck on repeatedly.

He’d seen this woman a few weeks earlier trying to parallel park a giant Oldsmobile. She’s been as unimpressed with him then as she seemed now.

Which only made her hotter.

He smiled at her.

She wrinkled her nose and turned away.

“Forget everything I just said,” he told his father and friends. “I’ve changed my mind.”

Angel snorted.

“Sullivan,” Lilly added, sounding every inch like she was auditioning for the role of his disapproving stepmother.

“Dude,” said Axl.

His father was less kind than his friends. “Oh, for fuck’s sake,” he said. “Can you focus on the fact that your house just went up in flames?”

“I'm very aware of that, Dad.”

Yet he was too distracted by the sexy woman who clearly thought he was a piece of shit to notice that his companion for the night had reached him. He wasn’t prepared when she threw herself into his arms.

Not in a tender hug. Or a stumble.

It was a full-on rocket launch.

A jump.

Like he was supposed to know she intended to do that.

Her chest collided with his.

Her finger hit him in the eye.

Her knee caught his balls.

And they were falling.

Sullivan wrapped his arms around her as best he could and braced himself for impact.
