I snort. “Are you seriously comparing yourself to me? You have girls throwing themselves at you every freakin’ second. I doubt you’ll have any problems meeting someone and sharing your life with her.”

He lifts his shoulders. “You never know. But sorry for making this about myself. It sucks you’re so lonely. I’m sure you’ll meet the right guy one day. You’re great—”

I jump to my feet. “You know something? I need to go.”

“What?”

What the heck just happened? I spilled all my worries and insecurities to a guy I don’t even know? To the most popular guy at school? What’s wrong with me?

“I need to go.” I hurry to the door. But before I leave, I turn around. “Um, whatever I just told you? Forget I said anything. This conversation never happened.”

His brows dip so low they nearly disappear in his eyes. “Um…okay.”

I turn to go, but he says, “Willow?”

I face him.

“Can you please not tell anyone what you saw in here?”

“What?”

He gestures around. “What you saw in my room? Can you pretend you didn’t see anything?”

I keep my eyes on him for a few seconds, every part of me bursting to ask why. What’s the big deal? But I nod and say, “It’s forgotten if what I told you is forgotten.”

“Deal.”

I leave the room and find my friends dancing downstairs. Thankfully, it’s a fast-paced song. Putting on a smile, I join them. “Hey, guys.”

“Where have you been?” Lily asks. “We started to get worried.”

“Just, um, hung out in the kitchen.”

We continue having fun dancing, but the only thing I can think about is the conversation I had with Colton. Ugh, how did I let those words tumble out of my lips like that? I never open up to anyone other than my family and my Musketeers. And withColton? I always thought that guy was just some silly popular kid, but maybe I was wrong…

I shake my head. Never mind.

Chapter Ten

Willow

Saturday. An entire day to devote to my app.

Yawning, I stretch my arms over my head, then climb out of bed and go to the bathroom. After I brush my teeth, I plop down at my computer, about to start, but my stomach makes a loud grumble. Geez, you’d think I was starving it. There’s no way I can work on an empty stomach.

I go downstairs and head for the kitchen. But I stop dead in my tracks. Mia’s standing there with a guy with blond hair. It looks like she’s showing him around.

His back faces me, so I can’t see who he is. But when Mia stops talking and waves at me with a bright smile, he turns around.

Colton.

What’s he doing in my kitchen?

“Good morning, Willow,” Mia says. She nods to Colton. “This is Colton. My tutor. He goes to your school.”

I just stare at the guy. He’s wearing a black T-shirt that emphasizes his well-toned chest, and tight jeans. Slowly, my eyes drift down my body and I realize I’m in pajamas. Pajamas with patterns of tiny computers, phones, and other tech stuff. They’re my favorite.

Colton smiles and waves. “Good morning, Willow.”
