“You’ve got a great family,” I tell her as I scan the pictures of the four of them surrounded by what must be Asher Park’s extended family. “I really like that one.” I point to it.

Mia’s eyes shine. “That was taken last summer when we visited my family in South Korea. I love going there.”

“Yeah? Tell me about it. Wait, no. You need to finish those problems.”

She grumbles. “Fine.”

As she does that, I get some of my own homework done. My friends post on Spill It! that they’re hanging out at the mall. They asked me to come and I gave them an excuse that I had a family thing.

I can’t let them find out that I’m tutoring.

“Do you have a girlfriend?” Mia asks.

“Didn’t I tell you to finish those problems?”

She beams. “All done!”

I slide her workbook over to me to check her answers. “You only did three of them.”

“Ugh! You’re just like Willow. Like, the guy version of her. She said the sameexactthing. Geez, nothing gets by you two.”

I furrow my brows. “Well, maybe if you actually completed the problems we wouldn’t reprimand you.”

She crosses her arms over her chest. “It’s not fair. Why do I have to do good in school when I’m going to be an actor?”

“It’s dowellin school. And what if acting doesn’t work out? You’ll need an education to fall back on.”

She thinks about it for a second. “Fine. But Iwillbe a great actor.”

I smile. “I know you will.”

Footsteps sound and then Willow appears. “How’s it going?”

“Good!” Mia says. “Colton is a great tutor, even though he’s strict like you.”

“I’m glad to hear that.” Willow turns to me and raises her brow. “How’s it going on your end?”

“Mia’s great,” I tell her. “Very smart. She just needs to apply herself.”

Willow shoots her sister a look. “Like I said.”

“Okay, okay. Sheesh.”

Willow focuses back on me. “Are you staying for lunch? We’re ordering pizza.” The way her eyes light up makes me conclude that she’s a fan of pizza. Who isn’t?

“Sure. Sounds great.”

“Cool.” Willow nods before leaving.

I put my attention back on Mia, who is hard at work on those problems. Once I make sure she’s doing okay, I continue my homework.

Less than two minutes pass before she says, “Hey, Colton?”

I try not to sigh. “Mia, please focus on the problems.”

“Okay, but can you come to the premier of my next movie? My dad and I are filming it over the summer.”

“Really? That’s so neat. But why do you want me there?”
