I should have hoped that my revelation would put an end to this mad game we were playing, but instead, I felt relief. His thumb moved across my lips, sending a surge of heat to my core. I stepped into him, then tilted my head back. An invitation.

Julian shook his head, a ghost of a smile curling his lips. “Same rules, Laurier.”

With a soft huff of exasperation, I pushed up onto my toes and pressed my lips to his. His arms came around me, but his mouth stayed hard and unyielding. I opened my eyes and saw amusement in his. He was going to make me work for it. Curiously, though, I liked touching him when he wasn’t responding. It felt…safe.

I could feel his heart beating faster as I smoothed my hands over his chest and pressed myself against him. There was a rock-hard bulge against my leg that told me he was feeling everything I was doing, but he didn’t make a move to accelerate it.

I skimmed my hand down to cover it. His indrawn hiss of breath was the only sign that he was feeling the same heat, the samewantthat I did. He didn’t move a muscle, even as I rubbed against him harder. Finally, though, he said in a painfully polite, choked way, “If you’re going to keep touching me like that, we need to get off this balcony.”

He held his hand out, palm up. I placed mine in it and allowed him to lead me back inside. I expected him to move toward the stairs, but instead, he closed the door between the living room and the outside and pulled the vertical wooden blinds across them. With only one lightbulb burning underneath a thick shade, the living room smoldered with shadows. Julian’s gaze was intense as I looked up into it. I wanted to touch him again, but as I reached for him, he caught my wrist and trapped it in his hand.

“I changed my mind. Youcan’tkeep touching me like this, or I won’t be able to take my time.”

Disappointed, I struggled against his grip. “I’m not asking you to take your time, Lewis.”

“No, but I’m going to.” He bound both wrists between us, and wrapped his free hand around the back of my head and gave me a long, hard kiss. “Tonight is going to be about you.”

Frustration clawed up the back of my throat, even as a moan slipped from my lips. He felt so damn good, but he was so damn confusing. What did he mean tonight was going to be about me?

Then he let go of my wrists and his hands were on the snap of my jeans, undoing them, pushing them down along with my panties. I kicked them off, too aroused to be shy even though I was now half naked in front of him. Recklessly, I pulled off my shirt and unsnapped my bra, too. Then I held my breath. I had no idea what came next. How we got from point A to point B.

I didn’t have to wait long to get my answer. Julian lifted me into his arms so suddenly that I only had time to half laugh, half gasp, before he was setting me down on the couch. I tried to lay down, but he wouldn’t let me. Instead, he dropped down in front of me, his body parting my legs so that I was open to him. He stared at me with hypnotizing, heavy lidded eyes. His blue gaze was intent on mine.

“Do you trust me?”

I nodded, and the irony of the question barely penetrated my dazed, lustful brain. I did trust him. Despite everything I’d thought about him and Fletcher being cut from the same cloth, I trusted him. I considered myself damn lucky that he hadn’t thought to ask himself that same question about me. I didn’t want anything to stop what was happening. Not now. Not yet.

Julian lowered his head between my legs. I moaned and spread my knees wider. The heat of his mouth, the scrape of his stubble against the sensitive skin of my thighs was more erotic than anything I’d ever felt before. The swipe of his tongue into my most private, sensitive places made me gasp. My hands went automatically to his shoulders, squeezing, stroking the back of his head. I let my head fall back against the back of the couch and closed my eyes as the brand-new sensations rippled through me one after another. Exquisite jolts of electricity. Flashes of light that exploded behind my eyelids as he stroked my clit with his clever tongue and nimble fingers.

“How does it feel?” he demanded, raising his head just enough to ask the question.

I could barely answer him with words, but I heard his low, satisfied chuckle. He understood. Almost absently, he stroked my breasts with one hand while keeping the other between my legs. The twin sensations were causing an orgasm to build inside me. I recognized the feeling, but I’d never experienced it with anyone other than myself. It made me feel exposed, panicky, out of control, but even as those emotions rose to the surface, waves of pleasure wiped them away.

“That’s right, Willow. Come for me,” Julian whispered, his fingers manipulating the sensitive nub of my clit.

I tossed my head back and forth. Not a denial, but a simple inability to verbalize any longer. It all felt so good, toogood. His mouth on my most private place, his tongue flicking, his fingers on my clit, his hand on my breasts, working me harder and harder, pushing me closer and closer.

I felt like I was in two places at once. Part of me was transfixed by the sight of Julian’s head between my legs, just visible between my slitted eyelids. The other part of me was floating higher and higher, getting closer and closer, until finally, finally.

I cried out, fisting my hands in his hair as my body levitated off the couch. It was like he’d unleashed the sensation not just in the space between my legs, but everywhere. The heat and electricity rippled through every part of me. My arms, my legs, my fingers, my toes. It flooded my brain with bubbling, transcendent pleasure that left me floating even after the wave of the orgasm began to recede.

“Oh my God,” I whispered, hardly aware that I was speaking out loud.

Julian’s laugh was low and grumbling. “I take it you enjoyed that.”

I opened my eyes and found his gaze. I was amazed to discover that I wasn’t the slightest bit embarrassed. “Thank you,” I said simply.

Julian rocked back on his heels, then straightened to his full height. He looked down at me thoughtfully. “You’re welcome.” His voice held a strange note in it.

I tilted my head, trying to read it. The effort made the beautiful, floaty feeling dissipate slightly, so I stopped trying. “What’s wrong?” I asked instead, sitting up. “Oh, should I–”

Julian’s lips lifted in a half smile. “No. I told you that tonight was all about you.”

I shivered with how good it had felt. Julian mistook the motion for a chill. “Here,” he said, gathering up my clothes from where they’d dropped to a heap on the ground in our haste.

“Thanks.” Still on a cloud, I pulled them back on. God, I felt amazing. I wanted to wrap my arms around him and kiss him and thank him again, but he was holding himself back from me. He was smiling faintly, but there was something pained in his expression. “Are you sure?” I asked, hesitating. “I could–I’ve never done it before, but–”

“No, Itold you–”
