“I hope to do you and Beth proud, sir,” Harrison says a little more formally, and my dad looks at him for a moment.

“You’re doing fine just as you are, son,” he murmurs, and I think I almost die with happiness at Dad expressing something other than grumbles to the man who still stands solid and dependable behind me.

It isquiet as I sit at home in the early evening. Harrison dropped me home after Dad sent us both away for the day, and while Harrison spent the afternoon shaking hands at a construction site and a business center, I took a nap then started to clean. I cleaned every inch of this house because I have so much nervous energy, I can't sit still. My bathrooms and kitchen have never been this sparkly. The windows and doors glisten, the carpet floor is shampooed and already dry. The curtains are dust free, and the bedrooms all have fresh linen and are spotless. The house is ready for Dad to return, hopefully in another week or so, depending on how he improves.

Marci and Larry visited him today, but Jeff couldn’t because of something happening at the center. Now as I stand in my living room, surveying the results of my labor, I take a breath and relax.

My cell phone calls to me in front of the kitchen bench, and I pick it up, seeing it’s Harrison.

“Baby, open the door,” is all he says before he ends the call.

I peek around the kitchen wall and see his shadow at the door and quickly skip to open it.

Taking up all the space is Harrison, looking tired but happy and in his hands is the largest bouquet of red roses I have ever seen.

“Harrison?”

“They are for you.” I step back to let him in.

“What for?”

“For just being you,” he says, one hand passing me the enormous bouquet, and the other snaking around my waist. He pulls me tight to him then, the stress of the last week now released from us both, and we stand there together for a beat, letting it all wash over us.

“You smell good,” he whispers.

“Aren’t you meant to be at a pre-election party or something?” I ask, because it is election eve. I am sure his mother has thrown some bash for him.

“I hear there is a party for two right here,” he murmurs, his lips brushing against my collarbone and the sparks immediately fly up my body.

“Is that right?” I tease him. “What else did you hear?”

“That you like it when I kiss you here...” he says as his lips nibble my neck, and my nipples peak. The effect he has on me is ridiculous.

“What else?” I ask breathily as I open my neck to him, my head falling to the side.

“That underneath these clothes is the sweetest pussy I have ever tasted…”

My breath catches before I continue.

“What else?”

“That I want to make you come on my cock all night before I take you again in the shower in the morning. Because tomorrow, I will be elected governor, and whether you are ready or not, you will be my first lady…” he whispers, and my heart almost stops.

“Harrison?”

“I want to introduce you tomorrow. As mine. I want the world to know all about us, and I want to show them all how amazing you are,” he says, pulling back to look at me.

“What about your mother?” I ask, holding my breath, knowing that there is still so much we need to discuss.

“Leave her to me, you don’t have to worry about her. I know everything, Beth, and I am so sorry it all happened to you. But I want you to know that our lives are going to change tomorrow, and I need to know that you are with me, because I don’t think I can do it without you.” I feel the weight of his words sit on my chest, but they are not heavy, they warm me.

“I’m with you,” I whisper, happy to have him manage his mother and even more delighted to be by his side when he wins the election.

“Great, now where were we?” he murmurs as his lips find mine.
