It must be something about him that does it for me.

With my arms wrapped around his neck and our lips and tongues clashing, dueling for possession, I let myself go and follow wherever this pleasure takes me.

His fingers dig into flesh, and we’re completely wrapped up in each other.

All too soon, we’ve found our release as we cling to each other in his pristine kitchen. He starts to move away first, and there’s something about his demeanor that makes me feel like I won’t like what I see on his face.

But the letdown doesn’t come as he smiles down at me. He pushes a wayward strand of hair out of my face. Leaning in again, he kisses me softly on the lips.

Making quick work of removing the condom, he shoves himself back into his pants, with one hand, yanks my dress down over my knees, then stalks to the trash can to discard the rubber. I don’t expect to get my undies back, so I don’t mention them.

But what happens now? I glance over my shoulder and see that it’s nearly nine. Last week, we moved our activities from my living room to my bedroom. I’m left to wonder if I’ll be seeing any other rooms of this massive house tonight.

Ugh, this part is so awkward. I won’t assume he’s going to ask me to stay, but I also don’t want this to be a fuck and leave situation. I want more.

“I had every intention of keeping my hands to myself tonight,” he says as he lifts me off the counter. My feet are unsteady, but I smile and pretend I don’t need his support.

“Well, that doesn’t sound fun,” I reply.

He chuckles and moves away from me, grabbing our discarded plates and carrying them to the sink.

“It wasn’t. Being around you clearly has me making bad decisions.” He winks at me as he swipes the bottles off the counter as well.

Lifting my chin, I tell him, “More like being around me causes you to let loose and have a little fun. I don’t see the problem.”

He chuckles, the sound rooting deep in my chest. “I think you may be right.” He drops the empty bottles into a waste basket under the sink before turning to me.

“Thank you for coming tonight.”

I smirk. “My pleasure.”

He shakes his head with laughter in his eyes. He walks around the kitchen, stopping nearly two feet away from me. Shoving his hands in his pockets, he looks conflicted. He doesn’t want me to stay.

I don’t let the hurt of being dismissed show on my face, I’ll let myself feel that later, but for now, I snatch up my bag and smile at him.

“I should probably head home.”

He hesitates, and I glance at the space between us. You would have never thought we were connected in the most primal way only minutes ago.

“You know I don’t bite,” I tease.

“I’m back to forcing myself to stay away from you,” he mutters.

My brows dip. “Why?”

“Because I have a conference call with our new satellite office in Beijing at ten. I was looking forward to that call, but now I want nothing more than to fuck you in every room of my house instead.”

Oh. Okay then.

“I could wait in your bed for you.” I nearly pant.

His answering chuckle tells me that’s probably not an option. “It’s very tempting, but I need to give my full attention to the folks on the line, and knowing you were in my bed, naked, well, it wouldn’t be fair to them. I’m already asking them to start their day earlier than normal to make this call work.”

I sigh. “You’re such a good boss.” And I move past him as he lifts his arm to lead me toward the door.

“I try. But I think for the first time in my life, Cassie, I’m tempted to say fuck it and do what’s best for me and not for the company.” His voice sounds sad.

We slowly walk to the door and he opens it for me like the gentleman he is. I lean up on my toes and kiss him gently on the lips. His arm wraps around me and he deepens the kiss, which was not part of my plan, but I’m not complaining.
