Tucked into my front, she groans. “I don’t want to get up.”

I kiss her temple. “You’ve got some time before your alarm goes off, but unfortunately, I have an early meeting this morning.”

She shifts next to me, turning so we are face to face. Her eyes heavy with sleep, the sun still shines through her features.

Her bottom lips pops out. “Stay with me. For a quickie.”

Chuckling, I kiss her nose but pull away. “Can’t, sunshine. My day is crazy busy today. But I’ll be home by seven. I want you naked and ready for a nice, long fuck when I get home.” My dirty talk only spurs her on and her moan nearly undoes my control. But I roll out of bed, my hard-on next level.

“You suck.” She pouts.

“Yeah, and you will tonight.” I smirk at her over my shoulder. She rolls her eyes but grins.

Twenty minutes later, I walk out of the en suite and she’s fallen back asleep. I walk around the king-sized bed, leaning over and kissing her cheek, and whisper, “Goodbye, my sun.”

Her lashes flutter, but she doesn’t wake.

I smile as I leave the bedroom. I’ve got a busy day because I have an appointment in thirty minutes that I had to fit into my schedule. Tom is waiting for me in the driveway and as I climb into the back seat, my phone pings.

Nora:

Walking out of the house now, still meeting at Goodman’s?

Me:

Of course.

I’m so excited.

Calm down.

I roll my eyes at her stupid reply to my text. She’s always sending me inappropriate GIFs when I text something she doesn’t like. I flip over to my text string with Cassie, knowing she’s still asleep.

Me:

Don’t forget to invite your parents to dinner next week.

I know you just rolled your eyes. They should be there if all your friends and brother will be there too.

I caught her off guard a couple of days ago when I suggested we host a dinner party with all our friends and family to celebrate our new home. Well, the home wasn’t new, of course, but I needed everyone together for the final piece of my plan.

The car pulls up to the curb and I let Tom know he can park around back, that I’ll come to him when I’m done.

Buttoning my coat, I step out and meet my sister right at the door. Her grin is wide and I roll my eyes at her as I open the door, motioning her to go in ahead of me.

“Mr. Abbot, I’m so happy you're here this morning. I’ve put together quite the selection of rings back in our private room,” the jeweler says as he leads us through the showroom of thousands of expensive pieces of jewelry.

Nora “oohs” and “aahs” as we look through the rings, but my eyes are drawn toward the yellow sapphire ring.

“That one.” I point to it.

Nora gasps.

“Oh, this one is quite special. Five-carat cushion cut. It really pops on the platinum band. It features thirty-four white diamonds wrapped around the band, totaling a half a carat,” the jeweler says proudly.

“I’ll take it.”
