“You know the longer you just sit there with your helmet on, the more I’m freaking out, right?”

His demeanor didn’t change as he continued to watch me.

“Okay … good talk,” I sarcastically mocked. “Is there anything I can do to thank you for rescuing me?”

I mostly said that to get some sort of reaction out of him, so when he lifted off his helmet, revealing his identity, I instantly regretted my question.

“I can think of a lot of things, but why don’t you start with actually saying thank you.”

“You!” I seethed, feeling foolish.

“If you don’t want to say the words, then I can think of other ways you could show me your appreciation.”

My mouth dropped open, shoving him as hard as I could. “It’s you! Oh my God! You couldn’t have just told me that! I thought you were going to hurt me! Screw you, Tristian!”

“Screw me?”

I went to push him again, but he grabbed my arms.

“I just saved your ass from your daddy finding out you lied to him, and you’re telling me to fuck off?”

I yanked my arms away. “Why didn’t you tell me it was you under the helmet?”

“Exactly when was I supposed to tell you? When the cop was chasing us? Or before the worst thank you speech I’ve ever heard? It’s three words—‘Thank you, Tristian.””

“You’re a jerk! You just sat there, and I was scared!”

“And still, you’ve yet to say thank you.”

“Why would you save me if you don’t even like me? This could have been what you wanted.”

His eyebrows pinched together. “What I wanted?

“Don’t play dumb, Tristian. You’re no good at it. You know exactly what I mean.”

“Enlighten me then.”

I rolled my eyes at him. “You want me to get in trouble, so my parents will pull me out of school.”

“That’s what you think?”

“Why else would you be bullying me?”

He shrugged, shamelessly stating, “For my own amusement.”

“You asshole!” I yelled, blown away by his admission.

“You know,”—he smiled— “hearing you cuss is doing all sorts of things to my cock, kitten. You should get angry more often.”

“You’re unbelievable!”

“And I haven’t even kissed you yet.”

“Kissed me?” I spewed, taken aback. “That wasn’t a compliment, asshole!”

“That’s not being an asshole, kitten. Now this…” He got off his bike. “This is being an asshole.”

Before the last word left his mouth, he was in my face. Leaning forward, he picked me up by my waist and threw me over his shoulder as if I weighed nothing.
