“How long did you know?”

“Probably since the first time we were all together.”

I jerked back. “Nothing was going on with us then.”

“It didn’t stop him from looking at you when he didn’t think anyone was watching.”

Nodding, I inhaled a deep breath. “Whose idea was it to name your baby girl after me?”

She softly smiled. “Cade.”

As if on cue, Adrian walked in, carrying a baby girl on his hip. She had bright blue eyes and pigtails. Her chubby little legs kicked while she drooled all over his suit jacket. He was completely unfazed, looking like he was made to be a daddy.

And my ovaries just exploded.

“Baby Paige,” he coddled her, standing in front of me. “This is your aunt Paige. You were named after her.”

I rubbed her back, loving her already. “Hi. You are so cute.”

She leaned her head on Adrian’s chest as Cade stood beside them.

“She’s a little shy at first. She’ll warm up to you.”

I smiled at Cade, cherishing this moment.

“You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this. Hoping that one day you’d meet my children.”

“Me too.” I softly replied.

The day flew by as I was reunited with what felt like my long-lost family. Their parents were emotional when they saw me, but it wasn’t awkward. It was amazing. It was as if no time had passed and as if the last ten years didn’t matter. The lies weren’t there anymore. Everything was out in the open.

We were all free.

I picked up baby Paige and threw her on my hip. Cade was right, she did warm up to me. I saw him walking over to us.

“We’re best friends now,” I declared, referring to me and his baby girl.

“She’s going to have to get in line.”

“Do you mean that?”

“Of course I do.” He exhaled a deep breath. “I’m so sorry, Paige. For everything. I should have been the bigger man and come to you. I wish I could go back and change things between us. You were my best friend and what hurt the most was you felt like you couldn’t trust me.”

“I know…it’s just… You were always so adamant about your brother being off-limits.”

“I was trying to protect you. And Adrian fed right into that fear when he lied and said he didn’t love you. I blamed myself for a long time that I let you fall into what I thought was a challenge for him. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Adrian loves you and I know you love him too. I mean.” He smiled. “I couldn’t ask for a better sister-in-law.”

“Wow. Between you and Adrian, I’m getting wifed up and pregnant today.”

“Definitely, if Adrian has anything to say about it.”

“I’m sorry for everything too, Cade. I never wanted to hurt you.”

“I know.”

I wrapped my free arm around his neck, hugging him. There was something about holding baby Paige and embracing my best friend that made this moment that much more special.

Cade hugged me back, kissing the top of my head.
