If Teo really was cheating on me could I end things? Could I walk away and risk losing everything? Would my heart let me?

If Teo was cheating on me then everything that I was mourning the loss of, I'd never truly had. The photograph was clear. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I only needed three. Teo was cheating.

I barely slept the whole night, unable to shake the uneasy feeling of leaving things unsettled with Teo. I was upset and hurt. My heart shattered into a million pieces at the thought that he would care so little for me that he could cheat on me.

I had to be strong. I would demand that he not go through with taking my family's estate because he broke his vow to me to be loyal and never hurt me. It may not have been in the contract, but I felt like Teo would respect me enough to let me out of the contract. Then again the Teo I thought I knew was not the Teo he was if he had it in him to cheat.

I got up early the next morning finally giving up on trying to sleep but I needed to talk to someone before I confronted Teo. I went to Vittoria's room and knocked on the door. It didn't take long before she answered.

“Mia, what are you doing here so early? Is everything all right?”

“Yeah. I'm sorry did I wake you?”

“No, I was already up and just about to have some breakfast.” Vittoria stepped aside and allowed me to enter. “Are you hungry? I ordered plenty.”

“Thank you, but I'm not really hungry. Coffee would be nice, though. I didn't get much sleep last night.”

“Too excited about your big day?” Her brow furrowed as she studied my expression. “Or is it something else?”

I didn’t answer and she led me to a small two-person table where her breakfast and coffee sat. “Please help yourself.”

“Thank you.” I sat at the table and poured myself a cup of coffee while Vittoria took her seat.

“So, what's going on? I know that there's something wrong.”

“What gave me away?”

“I've known you my whole life. I know when there’s something on your mind and from the look of you, this is a doozy.”

I let out a sigh and took a sip of my coffee before taking out my phone. I pulled up the texted image and handed the phone to Vittoria.

She studied the screen for a moment before looking back up at me, enraged. “What the hell is this? Is that bastard really cheating on you?”

“I don’t know. It doesn’t make any sense to me at all. Teo has been wonderful. He risked everything to save me and...it just doesn’t make sense. Maybe the image could be a fake?”

“A really fucking good fake,” Vittoria added.

“Is there any chance it was photoshopped?” I asked with hope, lifting my voice.

“Doubtful but you never know. I know a guy who could check but it might take him a few days to get back to me.”

“I don’t have a few days. I’m supposed to be marrying Teo tomorrow.”

“Then there’s only one way to find out with such tight time constraints.”

“What’s that?”

“Talk to him about it.” She handed me back the phone.

“You make it sound like it's so easy.”

“It is, or at least it should be with the person you’re marrying.”

“You’re right. And, I have to know the truth or there’s no way I can stand up there and vow to be with him forever.”

I pulled up the texts between Teo and myself so that I could send him a message, not trusting my voice to not give anything away.

Mia: I need to see you before the girls and I head to the spa.
