“Chocolate milk,” I replied instantly. I loved the rich and delicious sweetness. If I could, I’d have it with every meal. “How about you?” I asked, wanting to get to know a bit more about him.

“It depends on what mood I’m in, but I’d say generally, a nice cold Budweiser after a long day of work.”

That was a bit concerning to me. What if he was an alcoholic? I couldn’t deal with another chemically dependent person. I had spent too much of my life dealing with issues arising from that problem.

“What are you worrying about?” he asked.

“How did you know I was worrying?” We’d only met a couple of hours ago. No way would he be able to tell by my voice I was nervous.

“Your eyebrows are furrowed, and your face scrunched up. You’re also biting your lip. Those are three classic signs for apprehension.”

Huh. I didn’t realize I let my emotions play across my face so much. “I’m scared about you being an alcoholic,” I answered truthfully. If there was one thing I wouldn’t lie about, it was this topic. Mostly because I didn’t want to be lied to in return.

“I’m not,” he replied strongly. “I have one, maybe two beers a couple of times a week. Otherwise, I stick to water or a Pepsi. Why did you feel nervous because of that?”

I sighed and put down my plate with the half-eaten slice of chicken pot pie. “Because of my brother, Evan. When our parents died, he didn’t handle it well and became addicted to cocaine. After seeing what happened to him and suffering consequences from his problem, I don’t want to have to go through substance abuse with anyone again.”

Austin nodded. “I understand. I promise you have nothing to fret over here. In fact, I can get rid of all the alcohol in this house if it’d make you feel more comfortable.”

I was touched at his gesture. We were practically strangers, but he was doing his absolute best to make me feel at home.

“There’s no need for that. Thank you, though.”

He smiled and said, “You’re welcome. Now, pick up your plate and eat some more. You have to still be hungry.”

My pussy became wet at his command. It was going to be hard to focus on eating when my mind wanted to come up with various scenarios about what the two of us could be doing instead… on the bed. He could order me to remove all of my clothes and be still as he felt up every area of my body. Or he could command me to get on all fours as he fucked me from behind.

I shuddered thinking of the pleasure he could draw from my body.

“Are you okay, Miranda?”

I nodded and picked up my plate, knowing I had to get some food in my belly or I’d regret it later.

We ate the rest of the meal in relative silence. It was only broken by our laughter when Champ rolled onto her stomach begging for food. For the moment, life was good.

When Miranda and I finished lunch, I took our plates and silverware downstairs and left them in the kitchen sink. I would get to washing them later. I wanted to make sure my guest had everything she needed before she fell asleep.

Walking up the stairs, I heard her sweet giggly laughter.

“What’s going on?” I walked into my room to find not only Miranda in my bed, but Champ as well. I stopped at the end of the mattress and put my hands on my hips. Champ wouldn’t make eye contact with me. She knew the rules, the main one being she wasn’t allowed on the furniture.

“What are the two of you doing?” I asked.

“I thought you wanted me to take a nap,” Miranda protested. She didn’t know the house rules—yet.

“I do. Champ, want to tell me what you’re doing up there? You know you’re not allowed.”

The dog looked utterly guilty as she turned her head away from me. After a moment though, she got up, about to jump off, but Miranda wrapped her arms around her neck.

“Please, don’t make her leave. She helps me feel safe. I won’t be able to sleep otherwise.”

As if on cue, both girls gave me their biggest puppy-dog eyes, and it hit me like a punch to the gut. Oh, this wouldn’t be good if they knew how much their look affected me.

“All right,” I said, caving to their demands. “For your nap, she can sleep with you. This once.”

“Thank you,” Miranda exclaimed while Champ wagged her tail and looked like she was smiling at me. She was one smart dog.

“You’re welcome. Now lie down,” I ordered as I walked over and tucked the covers up to Miranda’s chin. “If you need anything, I’ll be down in my office.”
