“Davy died the before we left for Tennessee. I couldn’t let her take the girls. She would destroy everything that belongs to them. Davy had a plan in place. She wanted me to have the girls if anything ever happened to her. I couldn’t tell her no. I’m the spare. Please don’t fire me. I can still look after Samuel.”

“Who wants the girls?” Ghost asked, walking over to Sunny and peaking at the sleeping bundle in her arms, before taking Charlie from her.

“Their biological grandmother, Agatha Blackwell. She is an evil woman. Hateful and cruel. She never wanted the girls, only the money. She always said they were nothing but decorations to be seen and not heard.”

“The father?” Reaper asked, looking at Bri, who was still asleep in Sandman’s arms.

“In jail at the moment for killing Davy, but his mother has her own money. She will get the charges dropped. When she does, she will send her son after the girls. I know she will because of what Davy left them.”

“What did their mother leave them?” Matrix asked.

“Her inheritance. My sister was Davina Duchene, the daughter of…”

“Vivienne Duchene.” Vicious muttered wide eyed as he took in all three girls, then me again. So, he was the one who Andy was talking about. The one who knew about my family. I thought it odd that a biker that belonged to a club should know the Duchene name, but he did.

“Yes.”

“Shit,” Vicious cursed. “Are you telling me these girls are the grandchildren of Vivienne Duchene? That you are the sister of Davina. The spare?”

“Yes.”

“Fuck,” Vicious rounded on the brothers in the room. “We have a problem. A big one. Davina Duchene was the first-born daughter of Vivienne Duchene, of Duchene International.”

“And that means what?” Ghost asked.

“It means we have a problem. When Vivienne’s mother, Victoria, died, she left everything to her oldest daughter, Vivienne, who then passed the company to Davina when she passed. With Davina dead, Duchene International passes to her oldest daughter.”

“Adrianna, but we call her Andi.” I muttered, looking at the little girl in Vicious’ arms.

“How do you know all this, Vicious?” Slaughter asked.

“Because my grandfather, Gerald Van Otto, was one of the main suppliers of the rare jewels Duchene International used to make her creations. Fuck man, just the name Duchenne alone is prestigious. Duchene International started back in Belgium before the first World War. They’re linked to royalty. Rumor is a Duchene descendant was a lady-in-waiting for Queen Victoria. The girls were close in age and became good friends. When Lady Duchene asked to marry someone untitled, Queen Victoria gave her blessing. She even attended the wedding. It was the only time she ever allowed one of her maids to marry. Hell, man, the jewels Queen Victoria wore, the Lady Duchene created. Duchene International creates and designs jewels for royalty and the uber rich. Anyone who can purchase a Duchene original, covets them. The company is that prestigious. Duchenne International is a seventy-billion-dollar-a-year company. These babies are worth billions.”

“And whoever has the kids controls the money.” Ghost surmised, glancing at the children.

“And don’t forget the company.” Vicious added.

“So, we have three fucking heiresses in our midst.” Matrix sighed, running his hands through his hair. I got it. I really did. It was a lot to understand and undertake. I’d been groomed from birth to get used to the idea, and I was still having a challenging time with it all.

“Technically, Adriana is the heir. The other two girls are the spares like me.”

“Wait a minute. A kid can’t run a company. Who controls the company until the kid can?” Matrix asked curiously, as Vicious looked at me and froze, already knowing what I was about to say.

“I do.”

Yeah, like I said… this was bad.

“I know it’s not much, but we just moved in yesterday,” Vicious said, as I followed him and the others into his large house. Julie, Slaughter’s wife, walked out of the large kitchen smiling, carrying a few items in her hands. Out of all the women here, Julie, Ari and Sunny were the sweetest, most gentle women I’d ever met. But there was something about Julie that made me gravitate towards her. Maybe it was her simple nature and big heart. I didn’t know, but I was happy to see her, even though it was in the early morning hours.

The house was roomy but barren. There wasn’t anything on the walls, no furniture, not even a rug on the floor. The living room was enormous, with a gigantic fireplace against the far wall. The massive room was open to the kitchen, giving the place a clear view of who was coming and going. Large floor to ceiling windows sat side by side facing the front of the house, which would allow for lots of natural light. A large staircase curved as it led upstairs to where I assumed the bedrooms were. I noticed an office to the left of the front door, which was lined with built-in bookshelves, just waiting to be filled. From the living room, a hallway led off to the right, where I spotted three more doors and ended, opening to another large room.

“Down at the end of the hall is the family room, which leads out to the back deck, a half bath, the laundry room and a coat closet. All the bedrooms are upstairs and three of the rooms have their own private bath. Two of the rooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom. I think the girls would like that. There is also a guest bath upstairs, too.”

Julie smiled at me before facing Vicious. “I thought you’d say that. So Stella, Daphne and I set up the two older girls in one of those rooms. It’s not much, but there is a toddler bed and cribs up there. A few of the brothers helped put them up. Thanks to Ari, there are new bottles, formula and diapers for the girls and she even sent over some of Rebekah’s and Sarah’s old clothes so the girls would have something clean to wear tomorrow. She said tomorrow we can all go shopping and get everything the girls and the house will need.”
