My eyes snapped to Fury, who backed up a step and shrugged. “I didn’t say a word. As soon as she saw me, she ran to me, calling me daddy. I swear I didn’t say anything.”

“He’s telling the truth, Linsey,” Montana added. “She already knew.”

“Fury’s right, baby. Andi knew.”

Looking at my niece, I asked, “Adrianna, baby, who told you Fury is your daddy?”

My niece hugged Fury’s neck hard before whispering, “Momma.”

Knowing this was not the right time to have this conversation, I spoke, “It’s getting late and I need to feed, bathe and get the girls ready for bed. We can talk about that revelation later.”

“Agreed,” Virginia said, taking Charlie from her son. Elizabeth walked over and hugged her dad, smiling up at him. “Knew you’d bring them home, Dad.”

Vicious kissed her head, then winked.

I spent the next couple of hours hovering over the girls, inspecting each of them for any cuts, scrapes, or bruises. Minus a tiny cut on Brianna’s finger, the girls were perfect. With help, I had the girls fed, bathed, and ready for bed. Leaning over Andi, I kissed her cheek before tucking her in next to Elizabeth.

“Aunt Linnie?”

“Yes, baby.”

“Are we gonna live with Daddy now?”

Taking a deep breath, I answered as honestly as I could, “I don’t know, baby.”

Andi yawned, then curled up next to Elizabeth, who smiled before wrapping her arm around her. Looking at both of them, they reminded me of how Davina held me the same way when I was little. So protective and caring. When I was in Davy’s arms, my sister made me feel safe and loved.

Closing the door behind me, I walked across the hall to find Fury holding Charlie as he sat in a gliding rocker. The man looked adoringly at the small bundle, cradling her close to his heart. Leaning against the doorjamb, I watched him with his youngest daughter. Little Charlie looked so damn small in Fury’s arms. It was a beautiful picture.

“She’s so little.”

“Yes, she is.”

“Did you know Davina told them?”

“No. I didn’t even know about you until you told me.”

“Linsey,” Fury whispered, and I knew. I knew what he was going to say before he did. Bracing myself, I waited for him to say the words, knowing that if he pushed the matter, I wouldn’t be able to fight him. “I know I said I would never take them from you and I meant that, but I think I will take you up on that offer to get to know them. I never wanted kids but seeing them, knowing they know me. When Adrianna hugged my neck, something happened that I can’t explain. I never want to feel like I did when we learned those sick fucks had the girls. It was like all my worst fears came rushing forward and damn near crippled me. It was such a strong, visceral feeling. I experienced nothing like it before. This urgent need to protect them came over me. I can’t walk away from them.”

Standing up straight, I stepped forward. “You won’t take them from me?”

Fury shook his head. “No. They need you and you need them. They need a mother and I’m, well… I’m in no position to raise three little girls, but I would like to be there for them. To get to know them. To help you if you’ll let me.”

Kneeling before him, I caressed Charlie’s head and asked, “Did Davina ever tell you the girl’s full names?”

Fury shook his head.

“Adrianna Christina Duchene. Brianna Christiane Duchene and Charlene Christian Duchene. Each of the girls has a variation of your name. I never understood why until now. She wanted to honor you and what you gave her. Because of you, she gave birth to three of the most beautiful girls, all with your dark hair and green eyes. I think if circumstances were different, Christian, that the two of you could have been incredibly happy together.”

A lone tear rolled down his face as he stared at his youngest daughter. “I think some part of me would have loved that.”

Getting to my feet, I left Fury with Charlie and headed downstairs. There was so much I didn’t know about my sister, so many secrets that were now coming to light, and I just prayed that whatever came next, I was strong enough to handle it.

“How’s Linsey handling everything?” Montana asked, three days later in the boardroom of the Soulless Sinners clubhouse.
