“Just tell me.”

“From what we can gather, Mrs. White accosted you in the bathroom at the ball. She drugged you before Alex came in and carried you out. To anyone who saw, it looked as if you had too much to drink. We only found you because Malice put a tracker in your earrings. If he didn’t, you’d be…” Vicious said, his voice trailing off. He didn’t have to finish that sentence for me to know what he meant. My cousin, the boy I grew up with and loved, tried to kill me.

“Hey,” I whispered, squeezing his hand. “I’m fine Gregory. You saved me.”

Vicious looked up at Montana. “I can’t do this. I can’t tell her.”

“She has a right to know, Gregory.”

“Tell me what?” I asked, looking at both men.

“Better she hears it from you than someone else.”

Before either of them could explain, the door opened and in walked the doctor. “Good morning, Linsey. I’m August Lansing, also known as Bane to these assholes. I’m the club’s personal doctor. How are you feeling?”

“Confused. I hurt but don’t know why? My head is fuzzy.”

“That’s to be expected. The drug they gave you sedated you heavily. When that happens, gaps in memory are common. As for your injuries, you will be sore for a while, and I suggest taking it easy for the next few weeks. I’ve reached out to a colleague of mine. He’s the best plastic surgeon in the state. He will be here later to look at the cuts on your face.”

Releasing Vicious’ hand, I tried to raise my hand to my face, but he stopped me. “Don’t baby.”

“You will also be happy to know that the trauma you suffered did not affect the baby.”

“Excuse me?” Vicious and I muttered at the same time.

“I’m pregnant?”

“She’s pregnant?”

“Yes. About four weeks.”

“What exactly happened to me?” I asked about the room, as the doctor looked from me to the others.

“He raped you, baby,” Gregory barely said. Slowly turning towards the man I loved, unsure I heard him correctly as a fog lifted in my head. My vision faded as I was back in the dingy room. The shadow over me was Alex as he beat me repeatedly, before inflicting his vile nature on me. Though my head was still fuzzy, I remembered every disgusting thing he did until it stopped when his head exploded before my eyes. One minute he was over me, the next, I was looking into Vicious’ eyes.

Shaking my head, I didn’t want to believe him or what was rattling in my head, but with the memories slowly coming forward, I knew he was telling me the truth.

“He killed Davina, baby.”

A memory flashed through my mind as I muttered while tears slid down my face, “He told me. He said he was going to do what he did to my sister before he killed her. I didn’t understand. Now I do.”

“Baby, it’s going to be okay. He won’t ever hurt you again.”

“Because you killed him. One minute he was over me. The next he wasn’t. I heard gunfire. I thought I imagined it. You killed him. Didn’t you?”

“Yes, baby.”

“Good.”

“Linsey,” August stepped forward. “All the blood work came back clean. I know it’s not any consolation, but he was clean. I ran a rape kit and other than some minor tearing, there was no damage. As for your other injuries, in time, they will heal.”

“Thank you.”

The doctor nodded before leaving. Alone with Vicious, Fury and Montana, I asked, “Why? Why did he do this?”

Fury growled. “Money. He wanted the fucking company and that cunt, Mrs. White, was his aunt.”

“Was?”
