“You’re too damn chipper.” I scowled.

“And you are in a tizzy. What happened this time?”

“King kicked me out of my shop so he could talk to my customer.”

One of King’s brothers, Gunner, leaned against the counter and smiled. “And why would King do that?”

“Hell, if I know. Montana came all the way from New York City so I could finish his tattoo. King took one look at him and turned into the Megatron of Assholes.”

“Montana?” Gunner asked, standing up. “As in Montana Stone?”

“Yes. I’ve been working on his back for over a year now. I only just finished today.”

Gunner whistled loudly as brothers that were milling around got to their feet and left the coffee shop. Ignoring the merry band of fucknuts, I looked at Beth and said, “I hate all of them.”

Beth laughed. “No, you don’t sweet girl. Come on, I’ll make you a strawberry smoothie and you can taste test my new Blueberry Scones.”

Across the street in Rosewood’s new tattoo shop, King glared at Montana as he said, “You know the wordfinedoesn’t bode well for you, King?”

“I know how to handle Bailey. You should have texted you were coming. Don’t enjoy finding you next to my woman.”

“Your woman?”

“Claimed her. She’s mine.”

Montana laughed. “Does she know that? Because she looked ready to rip your balls from your body.”

“Why are you here?”

“To get my ink finished.”

“That isn’t all.”

“No, it’s not. Found your Czar, King. You will not like who it is.”

“Just tell me.”

“It’s Havoc, and he knows you’ve claimed Venom.”

“Haven’t hidden it Montana.”

“Well, you should have, cause Havoc found her family and set you up. That little trip you just got back from. The FEDs are all over it. They know a mercenary set those bombs but what they’re more concerned with is why said mercenary took off with four babies.”

“FUCK!” I roared, turning to slam my fist down on Bailey’s receptionist’s desk, making the item laying there jump. “I knew something was wrong. Those kids shouldn’t have been there. Scribe called and got the local PD and children’s services to remove the known kids. Wasn’t gonna have them as collateral damage. Only heard the baby after I killed the old bitch. Four different locations, Montana. One was a meth lab in the middle of fucking nowhere. Tell me. How does a baby just happen to be there?”

“They don’t. Havoc planted those kids, and it gets worse. Those kids aren’t just any kids, King. They are from prominent families back in California. Havoc kidnapped them just for this purpose because he fucking knew you wouldn’t leave them behind. The second you showed up, your loose end had you dead to rights. You should have killed that motherfucker when you had the chance.”

“He killed Dog, didn’t he?”

“Yeah. Dog recognized him right away.”

“Shit.” I muttered when the shop door opened as my brothers all piled in. Holding up my hand, I stopped them from saying anything. “Tell me why you are really here?”

“I can make all this go away.”

“Don’t need your help.”

“True, but my offer comes with this,” Montana advised, as he held out his hand. In it was a gold medallion about two inches in diameter, with a skeletal reaper holding a cross on the top. He didn’t have to turn it over. I knew what was on the back. I had heard stories of these medallions and what they meant. Coveted, they were worth more than their weight in gold.
