“Master was right. He was saving me last night.” Her dramatic groan had Gaylen snickering behind me, which I tuned out completely.

“Told you so.”

I ignored that too.

“No, I waited until you opened your eyes to do anything. I haven’t even been staring at you.” Mostly because I’d just woken up once she’d started shifting and squirming.

Our sweet girl was very still in her sleep until she started waking up, and then she wiggled and fidgeted and made the cutest sounds as she tried not to actually wake up.

“How come no one warned me that you were a morning person?” Her ridiculous tone had Gaylen snickering again, loving the whole thing. “That should’ve been in some kind of list.”

“You should’ve spent more time talking to him about real things rather than talking about fantasies and sending dirty texts while you were at work.” Gaylen’s gruff answer had her quietly giggling against my chest.

“That wouldn’t have been nearly as much fun.” I was half-serious and half just fucking with him but it had Tabitha laughing so hard she hopped up and scrambled for the end of the bed.

“Be right back.” Now it was our turn to chuckle as she made a nearly naked dash to the bathroom, just wearing an oversized T-shirt that she’d stolen from me before we’d gone to bed.

Gaylen took the opportunity to scoot closer, giving me a quick kiss that led to another and another. When he finally pulled away, we were both breathless but he still managed to give me a sexy frown as he rested his forehead against mine. “You are a terrible influence, but good morning anyway.”

Grinning, I managed not to nod and agree with him, but it was difficult. “Good morning, grumpy.”

Tabitha came back in, perfectly timed to grin and run toward the bed, bouncing as she jumped up. “Grumpy Poppy.”

Her state of undress with her bottom sticking out didn’t even seem to be an issue as she scrambled closer, wedging herself in between us. “Pancakes, Daddy?”

Gaylen laughed, pulling her down between us. “Is food all you think about, little girl?”

Her eager nod had him flopping back, looking more relaxed and happier in general than I’d seen him in a long time. “Then I guess we have to make pancakes.”

As she flopped on him, getting anumphas she landed, he wrapped her up tight and kissed her head once he could suck in a breath. “Is Daddy going to go get you ready for the day while I make pancakes?”

She nodded and gave me the cutest greedy grin before throwing herself at me. “Surprise?”

Obviously, she hadn’t forgotten that either.

I had a bit more warning, so I braced for impact as she laughed and landed on my chest. “Present?”

Her wiggles were going to make things more uncomfortable than her little headspace seemed to realize, so I decided it was time to switch gears. “Only for good girls.”

That got more nods and unfortunately more wiggles. “Yes, good, good.”

Gaylen’s snicker said he’d figured out what the problem was but he was helpful and sat up against the headboard. “Come here, good girl. What kind of pancakes should we have?”

That had her scrambling over to the Dom who seemed like he’d indulge her sweet tooth, so I took that opportunity and headed to the bathroom. By the time I came out feeling fresher and ready to tackle my curious handful without any obvious issue, they’d escaped.

Following the giggles down to the kitchen, I saw him grinning as she gave him wide eyes. “Aww, Poppy.”

Whatever she’d asked for he’d found hilarious… but it didn’t seem like she was going to get it.

“There’s my girl.” Since a distraction from Daddy seemed to be in order this time, I opened my arms. “Should we go find your surprise?”

And some clothes.

Bingo.

She bounced over and threw herself at me as she laughed. “Presents. Pancakes. Goodies.”

“Yes, you’ve got lots of exciting things going on this morning.” And at least a few things that she might not be expecting. “Let’s go.”
