Page 26 of A Little Bit Crazy

“It’s not that crazy,” I mumble, shifting on my feet, and he laughs.

“It was bonkers, Quinn.”

“You said yes to it!”

“Yeah, because I wanted you any way I could get you,” he says with a wide smile.

My phone starts to ring again. Mom. Again.

I hit ignore and look back to Rhett.

“So, you want to be with a crazy person,” I say, and he laughs.

“More than anything, but what do you want?”

My phone starts to ring again, and I groan.

“I’m sorry,” I start, but he holds up his hand.

“It’s okay. Answer it before they show up here.”

We both shiver at that thought, and I take a deep breath before I raise the phone to my ear.

“Hello?”

“There you are! We’ve been trying to call you, young lady,” my mom snaps.

“What’s up?”

“We’ve set up a dinner party tonight with Tripp and his parents. We expect you to be here within the hour,” she says primly, and something in me snaps.

I’m never going to be happy being who my parents want me to be. I want to live my own life, and it’s obvious that they’re not on board with that.

I look to Rhett for strength in telling my mom no for the first time in my life, and I can see the anxiety coming off of him. He’s nervous, and I realize I never told him how I felt about him. He just poured his heart out to me, and I left him hanging.

I take another deep breath, and my eyes lock with his dark blue ones.

“Actually, mom. I can’t make dinner tonight with them. Or any night.”

She starts to sputter, and I smile softly.

“I’m in love with Rhett, so I don’t want to be set up with any more of your friends’ sons. I choose him,” I say, and he’s on me in an instant.

I laugh, hanging up on whatever my mom is saying as he tilts my head up. His lips claim mine in the next instant, and I sink into his embrace, only for him to pull away in the next breath.

“I love you too, Quinn.”

“Crazy in love,” I say, and he laughs, wrapping his arms around me as his lips find mine once more.

ELEVEN

Rhett

I gatherQuinn up in my arms and carry her back to her bedroom. I want to lay her out and have her tell me that she loves me over and over again, but it appears that Quinn has other ideas.

“I wanted to try something,” she admits, a wicked light in her green eyes.

“What?” I ask, and I honestly don’t have a clue what she means until she drops to her knees in front of me. “Fuck!”
