“Bite him, Sterling,” I ordered. My alpha took his brother’s wrist and sank his teeth into the sensitive flesh. Like Weston, Hayes made this a moment between the two of us. Yes, Sterling was right there on the side, an important part of making this connection happen, but my beta only had eyes for me. He didn’t flinch, his expression remaining unaffected by the pain that I knew came with a bite that deep. It was only when the connection solidified, when I finally felt him and he felt me, that his face changed. Joy lit up his eyes, and a smile graced his lips.

We were all officially bonded.

One pack, one connection.

ChapterTwenty-Three

Bailey

“Yes, sir, I’m alright. Healing and a bit bruised, but safe now,” I reassured Burke for the twentieth time.

“Bailey, you can’t possibly expect me to leave you with them after this,” he argued as gently as he could manage.

I let my voice drop a bit when I answered, making myself sound terrified. “Sir, I just can’t trust a stranger now. They found me and helped keep me safe after. That’s enough for me. I’ll even let them stand outside of the bathroom door next time.”

He chuckled at that. “Alright, I’ll trust your judgment on this, but they need to be more vigilant and the police need to investigate Carlisle. This is absurd! Attack after attack, but they don’t feel it’s noteworthy?”

“The police took notes when they questioned me,” I explained. “They’re looking into other leads, but they said Carlisle had a solid alibi. He’s in the clear.”

Burke scoffed. “As if he couldn’t hire someone to do it? He comes from money just like I do!”

“True, and I hope she does look into that. I just want the attacks to stop,” I said. “But that’s not what matters right now. We aresoclose to the end, Senator! We can’t let them see that they got to me or any of us. Our energy stays the same, and when I come back tomorrow, I’ll put in twice as much work to win this.”

“I love your spirit, Bailey. We chose well with you,” he praised. I could hear the relief in his voice. He probably thought I’d call it quits. Hell, most sane people would have after the first sign of danger. But those people didn’t have the Syndicate ensuring they stayed in place. Of course, they hadn’t reached out at all. My handler had to have known I’d been taken if they were watching as closely as they boasted, yet… nothing.

“We’re in the final stretch, and we’ve got this in the bag,” I said confidently, though in my mind I knew I’d be doing everything I could to expose him before then. Time had almost run out for this mission. Maybe the Syndicate’s silence was a good thing.

The moment I ended the call with him, Weston moved forward. He put his hands on either side of my face. “Come out with me. I have the perfect stress reliever, and you are much too tense.”

I narrowed my eyes at him, knowing that my mate didn’t have normal parameters for fun stress relief. “Come where?” His excitement came through the bond. Now that I’d bonded with both alphas, and they’d included the betas, I could feel them all at times.

“You’ll see,” he said excitedly. I glanced at Hayes, but he just smirked, burying his nose further in the laptop he was working on.

I was on my own for this one.

“What do I wear?”

Weston glanced down at my outfit in a way that didn’t inspire any more confidence. “Something dark and easy to move in. If it hugs your ass, bonus points,” he declared, smacking me lightly on each cheek for emphasis. “The end reward will be so much better if you do.”

My closet still had a lot of room to grow, but I found a black tee that had a wide enough neck to give him a nice view and a tight pair of dark skinny jeans. I pulled on the one pair of black boots I owned before walking back out to meet him.

Weston’s eyes lit up when he saw me. “Yes, exactly what I wanted.” His hands skimmed over my sides and around my ass again, but I swatted him away.

“Where are we going?” That was enough to redirect the beta. He pulled his keys from his pocket and led me to the elevator. The moment it closed, he backed me against the wall and slid his hand into the front of my pants, stroking my clit. The contact felt good, but it wasn’t enough to build up real tension.

“By the time this is over, you’re going to beg for me, Bailey, and I’ll be right there to give you every bit of relief you’re pleading for.”

My answering moan was swallowed by his lips pressing into mine. The elevator dinged, and he pulled away, leaving me panting and needy. Having more than just my lust filling me was intoxicating and heady.

He smirked back at me, clearly planning to be a jerk the entire day. But dammit, if I wasn’t eager for it...

“Are we going bowling?” I joked as I climbed into his car. It was a lot different than Cyrus’ black SUV. Weston kept his sports car nice and pristine. The black leather was accented in red, and the sound system was definitely custom made.

He laughed at my suggestion. “No, nor are we going to the park to hold hands and have a picnic. Something tells me you're not the type.”

“Aw, you don’t know me at all,” I teased. “I’m a sucker for being spoiled.”

“Of that I have no doubt,” he agreed. “But spoiling you and choosing cheesy dates to woo you are two different things. I think you have a darker side, Bailey, one you have yet to embrace.”
