With a growl, he complied, slamming his hips into me and making the car shift in protest. He fucked me into the door, using his body as leverage so his hands could explore, pinching at my nipples then dipping into my cunt and teasing over my clit.

My orgasm was slow to build, my body nearly spent, but Sterling didn’t allow it to disobey.

“No,” I whined. “I can’t.”

“You want me to stop?” he asked, making me whimper in protest.

“No, keep going,” I said, grinding my hips into his hand until the pleasure was building again. When the dam finally broke, I couldn’t do anything more than cry out. My pussy clenched around his knot, forcing him to swell further.

Sterling came after a few more thrusts. We were both breathless from the high of sex, and I could feel his heart racing into his chest. Mine was doing the same.

We silently waited for his knot to release me. Instead of talking, Sterling kissed me, slowly this time. Each brush of his lips left me feeling vulnerable, cracked wide open for him to see everything that I was.

We’d come together in a volatile burst, but now he was showing me he was an alpha worthy of loving. This was the side of Sterling no one else got to see—an alpha that could take charge and keep me safe while protecting my heart and caring about me as a person, not just an omega.

When he finally let me go, I hated to break the moment, but the lure of new information was enough to entice me.

“What did he find?”

ChapterTwenty-Eight

Bailey

Meeting a random stranger, even in public, felt like a gamble. Lately, my life had been nothing but chaos, so I didn’t have high hopes. Regardless of that, we were going to try our hardest to keep this from going up in flames. Weston and Cyrus were positioned at the back exit, with Sterling and Hayes in the front. The building was surrounded, so at least I was protected.

They checked in on me through the bond, sending patience, reassurance, and the simple reminder that they were there. Whether they were physically beside me or not, they made it impossible to feel alone. I tried to send my appreciation back, wanting them to know how touched I was by the effort.

It was a cute place. The forest green walls and plants gave it a cozy ambiance. Art hung on the walls, and the fixtures had a modern look. The smell of food and coffee had my stomach rumbling, but I’d have to settle for coffee for now.

The café was fairly empty, and not one person looked my way as I walked up to the counter. A young barista greeted me, and I returned her smile despite my nerves. The last thing I wanted was to appear suspicious.

“Can I please get a latte with an extra shot of espresso? It’s an extra caffeine kind of day.”

“You’ve got it,” she said as she took my card and swiped it before handing it back. “I’ll bring it right out when it’s done.”

The room was scattered with tables, but I took one away from the window and the few other people since this conversation needed privacy.

Still, no one had approached by the time the barista brought me my coffee. Five more minutes passed, and I was considering leaving until the front door opened.

A girl walked in, and her resemblance to me was uncanny—long brunette hair, slim but curvy, even our faces were similar shapes.

She scanned the room, then her eyes widened when they landed on me.

“Bailey,” she said, heading right for me. She sat down, studying me for a moment. “Here.” She handed over a book. Judging by the cover, it was a cheesy romance, and when I glanced up, she was biting back a laugh. “I thought it would be more discreet. And who doesn’t love a little spice in their life?”

“Thanks,” I said as I tucked it into my bag. My fingers itched to turn the pages and find out her secrets, but this was not the place.

“The election is getting closer. Are you hanging in there?”

“It’s busy, of course. I’m ready for it to end honestly.” Laura was a stranger to me, so I wasn’t going to divulge real information to her. “I’m sure you’ve seen the news.”

“I did. That must have been a nightmare. Did they ever find out who took you?”

“No. They told me they likely wouldn’t since I didn’t have any evidence on me and the details were hazy.”

“I’m so sorry,” she offered quietly. “That was actually why I came. I knew things were bad, and the thought of them getting even worse was too much.”

“I’ve got good security now,” I promised.
