“If we fear every alpha, then they win,” an omega called out, wincing when she stood up. “There were omegas working against us too. Monsters don’t just lurk inside alphas.”

“I’m learning that,” I agreed.

“What hurts?” the doctor asked, already kneeling down and unzipping her bag.

“A rough beta twisted my leg a bit too far,” she said, pulling up her skirt to reveal a huge bruise.

“I’ll be as gentle as possible,” the doctor promised, feeling along her leg before wrapping a bandage for support. “You’ll need x-rays, but this should help for now. Someone help her out! There’s more medical staff on site.”

“Thanks,” she said as two agents came over, and the doctor ushered me on. We mended strains, bruises, and covered some open wounds. They were all in bad shape, but what they needed most was fluids, food, and safety to recover.

It was well after midnight before the room was officially clear. Hayes had rejoined us a few hours into the incident, looking even worse for the wear. He wouldn’t tell us in detail what he’d found, but I had a feeling Weston had compiled a brand new hit list.

Laura was one of the last to leave, approaching us to say her goodbyes. Respect glowed in her eyes when she shook my hand.

“Your help was amazing, thank you,” she said to all of us. “Bailey, I’m looking forward to talking to you. Keep the phone handy.”

“Not for a while. We need time to recover and figure out this whole pack thing without having to hide,” I countered. “I’ll tell you when we’re ready.”

“Good. Boundaries will keep you sane,” she said. “I’m still working on those. Go home. We’ve got it from here.”

She shrugged on a jacket that said FBI and winked at me. The Syndicate had their hands in a lot more than I realized, which was oddly reassuring now that I was on the other side of this mess. I’d thought they did questionable things, but the more I learned about and witnessed of the Syndicate, I realized they were simply fighting fire with fire.

The justice system and society had failed us omegas over the years. We had rights, sure, but we had to fight hard to keep them, too. North Harbor had been one of the worst areas for an omega, but that would be changing now. The fact that I’d had a hand in that blew my mind.

My morals might be a bit permanently skewed, but in the end, it was worth it.

Six Months Later

“Do I look rich?” Sterling drawled, tucking cufflinks into his tux and raising an eyebrow at me. My gown was more expensive than anything I’d ever worn, but we had a part to play tonight. Every one of us was dressed for the role.

“Our target is Jermaine Lewis. He’s the acting CEO of North Harbor Bank. He’s been trying to revive the ring, and that’s not fucking happening,” Cyrus said as he showed us the man’s picture.

“Well, good thing he’s going to fail,” I said confidently as I pulled on my elbow-length gloves.

“Word is spreading like wildfire about the new pack who’s been throwing around money,” Weston said. “I’m sure he’ll come to us.”

“This role is so much more fun,” I joked. “I couldn’t do the submissive thing much longer.”

“You submit to me,” Cyrus teased.

I grinned. “Only for my pack.”

For the past six months, we’d stayed in the Tower. The guys spent their days figuring out how to lead the Family, and our nights were reserved for being a pack. Sometimes it was dinner at home, while others were dedicated to exploring the city, but almost all of them ended in one of their beds. With them, I was an equal. My skills were just as important as the guys’, and I often worked with Hayes to track our targets, though Weston and I did enjoy a fun bounty together here and there. I never felt bad about ridding the world of another monster.

The omegas were recovering at different rates, and last week we had dinner with Randy and Molly. She was happier and healthier now, learning how to be a person again.

Laura had stood true to her word and held back until I told her I was ready. Of course, we got this job the moment I did.

Our lives together would be full of dangerous situations, but I loved every second of it. I had a real purpose now, one that I was willing to dedicate my life to, and my pack felt the same. They’d accomplished what they’d been trying to do for years, and now that it was done, they were just as hungry for more as I was.

We were learning the balance between dedicating our lives to our city and our jobs, while giving the same dedication to each other. For the first time in my life, I had a family I loved and that accepted me completely. There were no secrets or lies between us now, only love.

The Syndicate had threatened to take my life, but in the end, they were the ones that had given me the chance to truly live.

The End.
