Every one of them comes over telling me goodbye, nice to meet you, and other stuff. The entire time Presley is holding tightly to my hand.

But like everything, the time has come. He slowly stands, pulling me between the cottages, kissing me like a man starving. His hands are straying all up and down my body. My hands are on his stomach and chest, which are both hard as a rock. Breathless, he pushes me back, running his hands through his hair.

“Okay, we can do this. Give me one more kiss then walk me to our ride, Itty Bitty.”

And that’s what I do. When he gets into the back of the SUV, I see his face looking out the window, watching me. I try to put a smile on my face as Doc starts the car up. Everyone is waving and screaming goodbye. My eyes never leave his until I can’t see the SUV after it turns down the road. Not sure how to move from this spot, I don’t until strong hands gather me up. I look up to see Pops.

“Come on, little one. He’ll be fine. I already talked to Brick and told him to keep an eye on the kid. Hannah, you never know, maybe he’ll decide to prospect for the Intruders. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?”

At first, I don’t understand until I look up into Pops eyes.

“Is that even possible, Pops?”

“Darlin’, anything is possible if you want it bad enough. Just give it some time, let him do what he has to do. Remember, his family is there. It’s a lot to ask someone to leave the only family they have. Right now though, we need to get on the road. Momma Diane called, already wanting to know when her family will be home. You ready, Hannah?”

I look down the deserted road then back up at my pops. His smile makes my heart happy.

“Yeah, Pops, I think I am. Lead the way. Time to go back to Timber-Ghost, Montana. I’m ready to go home.”
