"Can you help him at all? Can you call on the water from Atlantis?" I asked, finally looking at my blue dragon, hoping he could do what I was asking.

My little blue dragon came and sat before me, perching on my knees.

"Please help him," I muttered, looking at my dragon. I knew it was unfair to ask him. After all, he was barely more than a baby, but he did have magic that was connected to Atlantis and that had to count for something

"There's water all around here in every plant, in the trees, in the ground...If I can gather it, can you infuse it with the magic of Atlantis and turn it into something like the healing waters we use there?"

The dragon shook its tiny head, and a wave of despondency moved through me. This couldn't be all the time Kai and I got together. I refused to believe that.

I was starting to think there was no hope unless we took him through a portal to Atlantis, but then I heard a small voice in my head,Channel your magic into me.I looked down at the dragon, and I could swear it smiled back at me. If dragons could smile, that is.

With no other options, I did as it asked, placing my hands on its back, one on top of the other since that was about the only way they would fit, and I pulled on all the magic I could feel around me and the magic that was in me as well. In my mind, it was like a spiderweb spread out over everything. Each strand absorbed the magic of what it was connected to before feeding it back to me and through me to the dragon.

I tried to imagine it being pushed into the baby dragon, like blowing up a balloon. A blue scaley balloon. At first, there was nothing, just me and the dragon, so I closed my eyes and focused as hard as I could. I just kept thinking that I had to save Kai, that losing him wasn't an option, and the only thing I could think of that had even a small chance of saving him was the healing waters from Atlantis.

The others had gathered around me as I focused. I could feel their presence, the cool refreshing air of Hyperborea stirring against my skin, while Griff's fire warmed my blood and Finn's steady reassurance blanketed me.

A sharp intake of breath sounded. I didn't know which one it had come from, and for a while, I didn't dare open my eyes for fear of breaking whatever spell was happening, but I could feel the baby dragon using the magic I was channeling into it.

The soothing, warm sensation I always felt in the healing waters in Atlantis filled me, and my heart leaped with the hope that it was working. There is nothing I want more than for this to be successful.

My curiosity became too much, and I slowly cracked open an eye as though the speed would make any difference, feeling like a kid trying to spot Santa on Christmas Eve. To my surprise and delight, a band of water was floating around Kai’s abdomen, covering the entrance and exit wounds from Timmon’s blade.

The longer I stared at it, the more I became convinced that something was happening. The skin around the wound was turning pink, and I didn't know if I was imagining things or if the wound was getting smaller, but I hoped what I was seeing was real.

Does it look like it's helping?I asked Dres and Niall.

Yes, the wound is closing, though he probably won't be fully healed for a while.

I couldn't tell which one of them had spoken because I was too lost to the relief of Kai not dying. After a long while, the dragon sagged and fell asleep on my lap, the water that it had been floating around Kai dropping at the same time, which made Kai draw in a sharp breath.

"Why am I wet?" he croaked.

Tears pricked my eyes, and I felt like an idiot as I started sobbing. My tears alarmed everyone, and the others were at my side a moment later.

"You're wet because Tessa is amazing," Niall said, pausing before asking, "Do you think you can stand?"

Kai nodded. "I'll probably need some help, though."

"I've got you, brother," Dres added while Griff and Finn huddled around me as though they could stop my tears just by their proximity. Dres extended a hand to Kai, who grasped it and tried to haul himself up but failed.

Dres moved to stand behind him and scooped his hands under Kai's armpits, lifting from there. Once Kai's feet were under him, he was okay, but he needed to lean on someone to walk.

I pushed to my feet, cuddling my Atlantean dragon close while the other babies came to sit on me in various places.I think we're safe now if you want to rest, but you don't have to if you'd rather stay out and about,I said to them mentally. It was definitely easier to talk telepathically since I was still crying. None of them left, and I couldn't help but wonder if they were concerned for the Atlantean dragon. Whatever the reason, it didn't matter so long as they were safe, and after taking out the leader of the One Realm cult, I felt as though we were pretty safe, at least for the moment.

"What happened to Timmon?" he wheezed as we started making our way back to the main part of the city.

"Tessa...ate him?" Finn answered though he seemed unsure how to describe what happened.

I wasn't sure either, and since I was still blubbering, I didn't even try.

"Ate him?" Kai repeated, looking back at me.

"She can shift into a dragon, and when he attacked her, she picked him up like a chew toy, shook him, and spat him back out before squishing him like a bug," Griff said proudly. I glanced over at him, and he was beaming from ear to ear. Crazy man.

Kai stumbled at Griff's words, and his jaw dropped. "A dragon?" I nodded. "But that's unheard of. No one can do anything like that."

"She can," Niall said quietly. "Tessa is a queen in her own right. It makes sense for her to have a powerful beast form."
