A blush flushed in my cheeks so quickly and so fiercely that I felt the heat against my hands as I covered my face.

Charlie wasn't smirking or teasing me as I would have expected if he heard my thoughts. He was looking over my head. I followed his gaze to Zaide.

I froze.

How could I hug a practically nude man in front of my soul pair? I am the worst mate anyone could have.

I felt like slapping myself. I opened my mouth to apologize, reaching out a hand to him, but his smile stopped me.

"I trust you had a good time with the soap, Charlie?" he asked. Standing up, he crossed his arms and continued to stare at us, amusement twinkling in his purple eyes.

Charlie rolled his eyes. "I think you could use the soap more than me now, mate."

They seemed to be talking with their eyes, and while I was glad they were close enough to communicate like that, I didn't like feeling left out of their silent conversation.

"I'd kill for a shower," I said, drawing their eyes to me.

Charlie laughed and ruffled my hair. "You smell as bad as you look, but I didn't think cats liked getting wet." He bit his lip and looked upward as if for divine intervention, and I realized it was because he heard the innuendo in his comment.

Ignoring it, I rolled my eyes and said, "I don't want to smell or look bad."

"Let's go get clean, Little Cat," Zaide suggested as he walked around the sofa and took my hand.

My brow furrowed. "Together?"

"I promise not to watch, but I don't want to be separated yet."

Awwww.

And yet my modesty and old-fashioned morals made me squirm at the thought.

I am bonded to him. He is going to see me naked at some point.I shivered. After my introduction to pleasure from Baelen, I was looking forward to intimacy with the other half of my soul.

My brain continued to argue:And he said he wouldn't watch. I know he will keep that promise.

"Okayyy," I drawled, giving into logic and compassion.

Charlie chuckled. "Well, you two have fun. Don't do anything I wouldn't do."

He began to walk away and without thinking it through, I grabbed his wrist. He looked down at it and then at me, "Yes?"

"I-I … Can't you come with us?"

"Urgh, Clawdia, I don't think—"

"You missed a spot when you shaved," I blurted out. "You'll have to come to the bathroom to fix it."

He sighed and rubbed his face. "No, I didn't." He hadn’t. But anxiety at him not being with me, even just to dress in the next room, swirled in my stomach and threatened to bring back the forkfuls of spaghetti that I managed to swallow.

"You did," Zaide agreed, surprising me.

I looked back at him to see him still staring at Charlie with that twinkle of amusement.

"Traitor," Charlie mumbled at Zaide. "Fine. I'll come to shave this imaginary spot, but we need to sort this separation anxiety out, guys. I won't be holding hands when someone needs to go for a shit."

"I'll feel better after a shower," I promised, even though I wasn't sure that was true, and gave him my best innocent kitten eyes.

He rolled his eyes at me, and his lips twitched. Then he pointed at Zaide and glared. "I swear, if I even see a glimpse of monster cock—"
