“We have time, my dear child, for this realm is vastly different from your own and therefore, by the time you’re back in your room of knowledge, it will be mere minutes gone by… so do not fret.” Hearing this I visibly relaxed, allowing the tension to leave my shoulders as I sank further back into my seat.

“Yes, the dreams changed, as now my own death haunts me.”

“Then he is feeling even more threatened by you,” Elswyth said, making me frown in question.

“The Wraith Master?”

“His essence is in you, child, and his memory still locked to that realm, just like the others are.” At this I was shocked.

“You mean he will be there still, in that realm?” I asked, knowing now that this complicated things further, as well… the guy utterly terrified me!

“He is also a Wraith like the others and as you know, you cannot kill a Wraith, only set their souls free.”

“But I ate his heart and the cut it out of his physical body!” I shouted, making the old woman raise a withered, gnarled hand.

“Yes, you did, but that only took his power over the other Wraiths away, for his body may not remain as it once did, but he will live on as a Wraith as the others do, despite no longer being their King or their master.”

“I don’t even know how to find them to set them free. Whether the gateway to Hyperborea even still exists?” At this she sighed before telling me,

“There is a way, but it will be far from easy. Its key remains, and always will do, back behind that door.” I looked behind me and asked,

“You mean in the Janus Temple, is there a door to Hyperborea?”

“I am afraid that particular realm wanted to remain hidden since the dawn of its time,” she replied, making me feel like rubbing my forehead and asking for mercy here.

“So, there is not a door?”

“There never was in there, no…”

“Then I don't understand!” I said, frustrated and irrupting her.

“Just because they never recognized the Fates as being their Gods, it doesn’t not mean they weren’t watching all the same. For the Temple of Janus may not hold a door, but that isn’t to say there wasn’t a doorway created.” At this I raised my head from where I had let it slump into my hand, with my elbow at the armrest.

“There is still a way?”

“Yes, but like I said, the key to accessing such a door involves not only the Fates, but the God of it all.” I sucked in a quick breath at what she could be implying.

“Janus?” She bowed her head once at this before asking me a strange question,

“Tell me of your mother.”

“My mother?” I repeated, wondering why she would ask me about my mother.

“Your mother was a prophesized Chosen One, was she not?”

“Yes,” I answered in a wary tone.

“And the first of her kind, but certainly not the last,” she added, and again her words made me grow cautious.

“What do you mean?”

“A Chosen One’s prophecy never really ends, it only holds the threads for others to pull. You, Amelia, are a vessel for the Fates just as I am, and they care greatly about those threads that you bring along for your journey.” I started to shake my head at this.

“I don't understand, what are you trying to say exactly?”

“That your mother's prophecy has not finished and neither has yours, but perhaps, this time, three threads have merely been entwined into one.”

“You mean two,” I corrected, making her grin at me and it was a little unnerving, especially when she said,
