Rory

I’msofuckingconfused, and I don’t know where to begin. I still don’t have any real information about why I’m here. My attempt to seduce Wade to my side went nowhere because as it turns out, I’ll let him fuck me for no reason at all. When I’m clear headed, it’s easy to explain the situation away and vow to not let them touch me again. But when they drug me, or even if they don’t, when they touch me, I come alive. It’s like I’ve been sleepwalking through my life. I should have been listening to Flora and traveled more, experienced the world, fucked more guys.

She’d laugh hysterically if she were here now. And while I know she would be concerned for my safety before anything else, she’d also be the first one to tell me to live it up while I can. This might be a drawn out scenario, but it isn’t permanent. They’ve basically said eventually they’re going to toss me out, so I may as well have my fun while I can. When I drop back into my regular life, I can lock away this chapter and move on like it never happened.

Sure, that’s not being super realistic. I’ll probably think about these days with a mix of pain and longing, fear and pleasure. But I’ve lived my entire life to make my parents happy. I’ve let them dictate things up until Brendan became a part of my world, and I transferred that power to him. He didn’t even ask for it, but I gave him this control over me, and eventually, he wielded it. I’m tired of thinking about how any tiny move I make might affect everyone else. Fuck everyone else. They’re all probably out there right now, trying to figure out how my kidnapping is going to negatively impact them. I wonder if anyone actually cares that I’m gone.

My musings are interrupted by loud voices outside my door. They’re the only warning I get before my room is suddenly bursting with energy and equipment I’m not familiar with. Hayes and Adler are setting up some kind of table and chairs near the bathroom, and Wade and Gray are moving in my direction like they’re scared they’re going to spook me. I’m effectively on edge.

“How are you feeling, Rory?” Wade still looks deliciously disheveled from our earlier romp, and it’s distracting.

“I’m okay. Could I get something to drink though?”

“Of course. I’ll go get it and be right back.” I watch Wade as he quickly strides out the door, and I’m even more worried. “What’s going on, guys?”

“We’re going to have some new fun, Little Bird.” Gray drifts close enough to lean down and kiss my forehead.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I can’t take my eyes off Adler and Hayes. Where have I seen that kind of setup before? “Is that some kind of massage table?” A girl can hope.

Hayes chuckles. “No, baby, it isn’t a massage table. I promise to make you feel good on it though.” He winks, and my blood runs cold.

I can’t lock myself in the bathroom, not to mention they’re basically standing in front of it. Wade left the door open, so maybe I can get out of here and lock myself in one of their rooms or something. I don’t know what’s happening, but the energy in the room is telling me everything I need to know. Gray is practically dancing on the balls of his feet, and Adler’s eyes gleam as Hayes starts taking a machine out of a case. I hear Hayes mutter something about ink, and it all clicks. They think they’re going to give me a tattoo? Fuck that. No way. My breathing picks up, but Gray is moving away from me to inspect what the other two are doing, so now is my chance.

I silently move toward the door, and when no one looks up or bats an eye, I slip out. I know where the kitchen and living room are, but I haven’t seen any of the guys’ rooms. I should look for the door, but I’m not delusional enough to think I’ll get that far. However, I do think I can put some walls between me and a tattoo. As I turn left to check out the other rooms this way, Wade is there. At first he doesn’t see me because he’s got his eyes on my water glass, but when he looks up, I’m toast.

“Rory? What are you doing?”

I don’t bother answering, and I don’t stick around. I dart into the closest room and slam the door closed. Thank fuck, there are locks on it. I slide the chain lock and the deadbolt home and breathe out a sigh of relief. Within seconds, Wade and the others are pounding on the door, telling me to come out. I turn the light on and look around. The room smells of cedar and is decorated in navy and gray. I take in the bookshelf that lines one wall with a copy ofGray’s Anatomystanding tall and proud on it. This must be Wade’s room.

His desk is neatly organized with minimal clutter. I can definitely push this myself, so I move it in front of the door. Next is the desk chair and a navy wingback chair. I try to push the dresser, but it’s massive and clearly made from real wood, so there’s no way I’m getting it across the room. I can hear whispers and shuffling outside, but they don’t drown out the sound of a lock turning. I quickly flip the deadbolt back to its position and smile.

“Princess? This is pointless, and we all know it. Just come out. You don’t even know what’s going on.” Adler’s voice is deceivingly calm.

“Yeah right. Why is there tattoo equipment in my room?”

“We just want to show you how it works, baby.” Hayes isn’t any better at convincing me.

“I don’t need to know how it works. I’m all set. I’ll come out when you can prove to me that whatever your little plan was isn’t happening.”

It’s quiet for a few moments, and I hope they realize I’m serious and are reconsidering whatever their stupid idea was. Hope flies out the window when one of them knocks on the door aggressively three times.

“Rory? I’m going to give you until the count of three to get out of my room. We don’t want to hurt you.”But we willis the part of that sentence that goes unsaid.

“What are you going to do to me?” I can’t disguise the tremor in my voice.

“It doesn’t matter what we’re going to do. You’re going to be a good girl and get out here before I have to ask again. One… Two…”

I don’t think they’d really hurt me, but I’m not willing to find out. If I behave now, maybe I can reason with them about whatever this is.

“I’m coming, okay? I need to move stuff away from the door.” I push the chairs and desk back in their original positions.

Wade has a black T-shirt strewn across his bed that I grab and throw on before I unlock the door. At first, they’re all smiles when I step into the hallway, then I’m scooped off my feet and thrown over someone’s shoulder.

“We can do this one of two ways, Rory. Are you listening?” Wade sets me down on my feet, but I can’t take my eyes off the tattoo station that has been set up in my room.

“What?”

“I can give you something for the pain. You won’t feel anything until you wake up. Or you can stay clear headed and let us strap you down so you don’t ruin your tattoo.”
