“Is this a trick?”

I frown at her. “No, why would it be?”

“Why wouldn’t it be?”

“I’m not going to fight with you. I thought you might want something. I’ll see you later.” I sigh and get up.

“Wait.” Her voice is so quiet, but I hear her, so I turn around. “Could you please get me some honey barbecue chips and diet Dr. Pepper?”

I smile at her request. “Absolutely. I’ll be back with the goods soon.”

She shyly returns my smile, and it makes my chest puff out. Fuck, I’m hopeless.

Rory

AfterAdlerwakesmeup, I can’t get comfortable. I think the drugs are leaving my system again, and my appetite is returning. I pick at the rest of the food that Gray brought in earlier and stare at some of the new clothes that Wade dropped off. Apparently, their pseudo mother figure is coming for dinner today, and I’m expected to attend and not be a dick. I want to be a dick, but at the same time, something has shifted. Getting fucked by four guys in a row probably has the tendency to do that to a person.

I close my eyes, and I can still feel their hands and mouths touching me everywhere, making me come alive. If you top that off with the way Gray woke me up by going down on me and fucking me within an inch of my life again, it’s confusing. I shouldn’t want them. I don’t want them. I want what they’re giving me but with Brendan. It’s easy to confuse pleasure for feelings, and the drugs aren’t helping me separate that easily. Hopefully with this Mal woman coming over, I can get some more answers and be a step closer to getting the fuck out of here and back to my life.

I take my time showering and getting ready. When I get out of the bathroom, my purse is sitting on the bed, minus anything helpful, but it has some makeup in it. I add some mascara and lipstick to my face, and I look a little less like a hostage than before. I run my hands down my blue T-shirt dress and decide this is as good as it’s going to get for now. I don’t know if I’m just supposed to sit in here until I’m summoned or what, but I’m bored. I move to my door and knock on it, which is an odd thing to do from the inside. Within a minute, Hayes is there answering.

“Is everything okay? Oh. You look gorgeous.” He slams his mouth shut, and I smile. I don’t think he meant for that to slip out.

“Thank you. I was wondering if I could come out and help or something? I don’t really feel like just sitting in here for who knows how long.”

“Oh, yeah. There isn’t really anything left to do, but you can come and hang in the kitchen while we wait for the food to finish and for Mal and Eddie to get here.” He gestures for me to step out, and I do.

I remember the layout of the place, so I walk to the kitchen and see the rest of the guys. Wade is checking something in the oven, Adler is setting the table, and Gray is sipping on a beer while tracking my steps from the hall into the room. His gaze makes my skin flame, and I chew on my thumbnail.

“Have a seat, Princess. Do you want some of your chips?” Adler quirks an eyebrow at me.

I can’t help the smile that spreads across my face. “Yeah, that sounds great. Thank you.” He nods at me and reaches into a cupboard before placing the bag in front of me.

“Just don’t fill up on those. I’ve created a delicious feast for us, and I don’t want you spoiling your appetite.” Wade points at me with a spatula.

I roll my eyes, and the words slip from my mouth without thinking. “Yes, sir.”

I crunch down on the first chip, then realize that they’re all staring at me. Wade’s eyes blaze with hunger, and I realize what I just said. I was being sarcastic, but obviously that doesn’t really matter. Wade moves over to me at the table and waits for me to swallow my chip, which is a fucking Olympic feat at the moment, before claiming my mouth. His groan fills my ears, and a bolt of white hot pleasure shoots through me. He pulls away before I embarrass myself, but there’s a dark promise in his eyes.

I want to pull him back and see what he’s going to do, but suddenly, a voice calls out from somewhere else. “Oh my goodness, something smells absolutely divine!”

The guys all straighten up, and Wade reluctantly steps away from me and our moment. I wipe my mouth and push the chips away as an older woman with long black hair and bold green eyes steps into the kitchen. She smiles at all the guys before resting her sights on me. Her expression doesn’t change, except the light in her eyes darkens.

“Ah, Rory, darling, how nice to finally meet you in person.” She steps toward me, and I stand up and stick my hand out to shake hers.

“I’m assuming you’re Mal? Is it short for something?” She looks down at my outstretched hand and clasps it in her own instead of shaking it.

“It’s short for Malia, but my boys have always called me Mal. You can too, if you’d like.”

“Oh, okay. Thanks.” She lets go of my hand and turns to the door where another person is stepping through.

“And this is my son, Edmund.” She glows as she smiles at him, and he returns the look before his eyes widen a fraction when he takes me in.

“Hello, Edmund. I’m Rory.” I reach for his hand as well, but I can’t help but feel like I’ve seen him or met him before. He has the same dark black hair as Mal, but his eyes are a piercing blue that feel so familiar.

“I prefer Eddie. I know who you are.” His tone isn’t cold, but it isn’t exactly welcoming either. He completely ignores my hand and walks to the refrigerator, pulling out a beer.

“Don’t be a dick,” I hear Gray mutter to Eddie, who shrugs his shoulders.
