“Was that before or after you fucked her?” He smirks at me.

“Both, actually. Definitely better after though.” I laugh, and he shakes his head at me.

“Hey, you don’t get to judge me, fucker. You were there first.”

Adler puts his hands up. “I’m not judging. It’s funny. I wonder how long it’s going to take

Hayes and Wade to follow through.”

I start cracking eggs and debate in my head. “My guess is Hayes will be next. Wade will probably drag his feet, even though I know he’s dying for it. He’ll have his whole doctor bullshit getting in his way.”

“Yeah, you’re probably right.” He sips his coffee and stares out the window for a bit while I start cooking.

The silence is comfortable, as always. The four of us were raised as brothers, before and after our fathers were killed. We were always close, but that day irreparably changed us and cemented our bond forever. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for these guys. Or Eddie and Mal, but those relationships are different.

Eventually, Wade and Hayes join us in the kitchen. I’ve made omelets and sausages for everyone, so they all dish up and sit at the table with us. We have things to discuss, but I let them eat their food first. When they’ve had their fill and lean back in their chairs, that’s the sign.

“So how is she? Does this change anything?”

Wade looks at me and tilts his head back and forth. “She’s okay. I honestly expected something along these lines, and I tried to prepare you guys. She’s resting comfortably now, but I’m sure she’ll wake up again later today. She’ll be more coherent, and we need to try to get her to eat something. As long as she’s hydrated, we’re good for now.”

“And how long are we going to let her be coherent for?” Adler’s tone sounds like he’s being a dick, but one look at his face and you can tell it’s a serious question.

“She’s going to have questions, and we should answer them. We can let her know the situation she’s found herself in is a direct result of her father being the scum of the earth. It’s not like she’s going to remember everything anyway. Just to be safe, I’d like the current drugs to run their course a little more before we start dosing her with anything else. But with the IV going and if she eats today, I’d say we could give her something tonight or tomorrow. It’ll keep her in the confused and dream-like state we’re going for. As for everything else, there’s no reason to deviate.” We all nod along, processing everything he’s said.

“We should grab her engagement ring and send that off in a couple days.”

“We should get some of her blood on it too, so they can test it.” Adler piles on with Hayes’ thought.

“Well, look at you with the big ideas.” I clap Adler on the back, and he flips me off as he stands to get more coffee.

“What? It’s like proof of life and shit. I know we all agreed on the engagement ring, but think about how fucking panicked they’ll be if it shows up in a little puddle of her blood? Sounds so sweet to me.” He takes a sip of his coffee and sighs happily.

“As much as it pains me to admit it, that’s probably a good addition to the plan.” Wade looks troubled that he agrees with Adler, which earns a chuckle from me.

“It’s okay, Wade. You’re still the smartest one here.” I wink at him, and he scowls but otherwise ignores me.

“We should monitor the cameras in her room whenever one of us isn’t in there. I’m not worried about her waking up for a bit but still, just to be safe.” He’s right, but I know Wade is annoyed he didn’t think of the blood idea first.

“I’ve got her pulled up on my phone for now. We can bust out the laptops if we’re just going to be hanging out here though.”

I decide to go back for seconds and refill my coffee. After planning for so long, I can’t believe we’re finally here. She’sfinally here. And we get to do whatever we want with her. I’m going to make sure that woman in there never breathes without aching for us ever again. Then we’ll leave her to rot, just like her father did to all of us.

Hayes

Afterbreakfast,we’reina holding pattern. No one wants to leave and miss when Rory wakes up again. We’ve had a plan in place for months, but it doesn’t take into account all the various ways she’ll react or how much whining we’ll have to deal with. I just want to get her drugged up again and keep having fun. There’s plenty of time for serious shit later.

I’m not used to sitting around on my ass, and my fingers are itching to draw. I head into my room and pull out my sketch pad. With Adler and I both taking time away from our tattoo parlor for this shit, I’ve got to do something with the pictures swirling around in my head. I’m not even sure what this is going to be yet, but I’ve never had trouble selling my designs.

Lost in the lines in front of me, my mind wanders. It isn’t lost on me that if my father were still alive, Adler and I would be spending eighty hours a week or more in an office job, wearing suits every day, making mind-numbing decisions, and all that. Neither one of us would have been truly happy in that space, but it was our birthright and should have been our choice. We could have put people in place to run our father’s company for us, remained silent partners, and kept his legacy alive, but Henry Cole took that decision away from us. He destroyed everything our father built and made it his own. He’s going to pay dearly for all the ways he’s broken us.

Our tattoo shop might be a far cry from the future my father wanted for his sons, but we built up our business and reputation with long hours and hard work the same way he did. It’s a small way to honor his memory, and our revenge will make everything that much sweeter. The drawing in front of me is finally turning into something, and I smile when I realize what it is. I definitely won’t be selling this piece.

I put the finishing touches on my sketch and close my pad. I’ll have to show the guys later and see what they think. It gets my dick hard, thinking about putting permanent marks on our girl in there. Something that she’ll have to look down at every day for the rest of her life and remind her of who she belongs to whether she likes it or not. Oh yeah, it’s happening, even if Adler and I have to do it in secret. There’s a reason one of my favorite sayings is, ‘I’d rather ask for forgiveness than permission.’ I know my twin will have my back on this.

I was drawing for longer than I realized. When I leave my room, I run into Wade on his way to Rory’s room, conveniently located next to mine. He doesn’t seem to be in a hurry, so I doubt she’s awake.

“I’m just going to do a vitals check. She seems to be out pretty good still,” he explains as he opens her door.
