This is how it should have always been. Me and him. Nothing between us. The world burning around us as we lose ourselves in sin.

Once he’s drained, he pulls out and caresses my cheek with his hand. “Is that what you wanted?”

I swallow the remnants of his pleasure. “Yes, and more. I need you inside me. Not just my mouth.”

His face looks pained. “Don’t ask that of me.”

“So, you’re never going to fuck me?”

He runs his fingers through his dark hair. “Give me time.”

“I’ve waited four years.”

“And you’re going to have to wait a while longer.”

Inwardly, I sigh, feeling defeated. But I will not taint our time together. It could make him more determined to resist me.

Instead, I’m going to try a different method of seduction. “Fine, but don’t think you’re going to get out of pleasing me.”

He smirks, revealing his devastatingly handsome dimples. “Baby sis, I’ll eat you morning, noon, and night.”

A SIN SO SWEET

GABRIEL

Has there ever been a sin so sweet as my sister?

That I should even have that thought shows just how far off my moral compass is.

I wish I knew what was going through that pretty head of hers. If she truly understands what she’s offered or if she’s speaking through trauma.

“Why does this place have so much clothes in so many sizes?” Brooke asks as she pulls on a pair of yoga pants that will not do me any favors.

Sure enough, when she pulls them on, they cling to her pert ass, taunting me.

“This apartment is a haven for when my people are in need, so we keep it as well stocked as we can. We have apartments like these set up around the city, often in slums that are overlooked. We make sure it’s the only unit in the building with electricity to keep it off people’s radars.”

“What’s it like outside?”

“Fucking terrible. Dead roaming everywhere.”

“How do you stay alive when you’re out on the streets?”

“Armor, sword, and gun. The dead are more active at night. During the day, they go into a daze unless provoked. They can’t see well, either. So I stick to the shadows.”

“If they can’t see well, how do they get people?”

“Their hearing is pretty good, and people are rarely as quiet as they think they are.”

I look out the window at the dimly lit morning. The storm let up a little, but it’ll be back, and with it, the stench of the dead.

“Once you take me to this Keep of yours, you’ll never have to come back outside, right?”

“It’s not that simple.”

“What do you mean?”

“My people don’t want to live in seclusion forever. We aim to retake the city, but in order to do that, we have to cull the dead.”
