It’s the first time I’ve seen the boys laugh in a while.
Even the girls went out there for a few minutes to watch them. It’s strange. A man I’m not even seeing may be bringing my kids closer together.
I watch as Tomasso does a little jump flip thing with his skateboard and lands it for the first time. From the cheers from the boys and from Tony, it seems to be the feat they had been working toward all day.
“Mom, did you see that!?” Tomasso bellows as he blasts through the door, his grin from ear to ear.
“I did!” I scream out, giving a small clap.

Isatnaked,perchedlike a bird on the side of the bed. The gray sheets cascade around my thighs, and I wish I had a cigarette. I exhale deeply and watch her as she snuggles next to me on the bed.
