“I’m dying of laughter…” I reply with the most monotone voice I can manage.

The man is laughing and I want to do nothing more than rip his fucking face off and step on it. He feeds off pain, I can tell. So, I’m not going to show him any of that. I’m not going to give him the satisfaction of knowing that I’m hurt at all.

He’s talking but I’m not listening. I have no idea what he's saying.

He smacks me.

I smile.

It hurts, but I’ll never let him know.

I’m used to being roughed up a little bit. I can take it.

I stick my chin out, proud, unwavering. I steady my jaw, clenching it, and look him square in the face with my eyes narrowed into slits. If I get out of here, I will kill you…

Sadist.

He punches me.

Blood bursts from my lips.

I heave as my breath flees my body. I spit and blood spatters the concrete.

He laughs, watching my chest rise and fall with vigor and I cough the blood from my lip and mouth. The pain in my side, sharp and grating, booms the more I cough…

With every move my breaths become agony.

“Sleep tight, bitch…” he cackles as he turns on his heel and heads toward the door.

As soon as he leaves, I start fiddling with the rope that ties my hands together. If I untie my wrists, I know that I can untie what’s wrapped around my body. I grimace as the ropes continue to rub across my wrists, burning me.

Why was I even doing this?

If I got out again, won’t they just find me again?

But, I have to try? Right?

Besides, it’s really their mistake for not killing me.

Maybe they’ll decide to just go ahead and get it over with if I keep pissing them off.

“You have no idea how dead you are, lady…” I spew from my poisonous lips as I continue working on my ropes. I’m ready to take her down. I’m ready to use that fingernail blade to gut her.

This is going to be an interesting battle….May the best woman win.

Chapter 18

Tony

IwalkintoAria’sclub, my eyes scanning, searching. For Luigi. For Frankie. For anyone for that matter. The club itself isn’t open, but the door is always open. And there’s always a bunch of the old drunks hanging out. It’s their hideout. Plus, with Aria gone, they all should be here. They all should be wracking their brains for a plan to get her back.

As I stride into the club, I still can’t seem to figure out how they keep random people from popping in and out throughout the day.

Lock the fucking door…

There’s security outside. But the guys are idiots, in my opinion. They recognize me and immediately let me in. I wonder for a moment if Aria told everyone the truth…or if maybe just a few people know.

I was half expecting to be shot on sight.
