Wells held up his hands. “I’m not telling her to stop cleaning. She’s ready for a fight right now.”

My palms tingled, the idea of Memphis being defiant almost enough to send me downstairs to find her right away. If she wanted a fight, I’d give her a fight. I’d also end it with her bent over my bed, fucking her senseless.

“I’m just going to say it. We’ve all lost our fucking minds.” Boone stood up and checked his watch. “I have a surgery in two hours and I’m sitting here, wondering how long it’ll be until I can get any part of my body on any part of hers. And that’s after spending half the night feeling like an angry little boy because none of us ever fucking bothered to take care of our mommy and daddy issues. Well, guess what? I don’t have time to work that shit out now, so I need one of you to do it for me and just tell me what the plan is. I have to go now.”

Wells and I watched our little brother storm out and chuckled. Even when shit seemed bad, Boone could always make us laugh. Even if he didn’t know it.

***Memphis***

Boonestompeddownthestairs and frowned when he saw me dusting. Marching over to me, he grabbed the duster out of my hands and threw it over his shoulder. “If you’re going to be dusting in this house, you’d better be in my room, wearing a sexy little maid’s uniform. Go rest or something.”

I watched him continue his stomp out of the house with my mouth wide open and could only turn to Bea after the door slammed behind him. My hands were still up from where I’d been dusting. “What the hell was that?”

Bea threw her head back and laughed. She had to sit down on the stairs and cross her legs until her giggles faded. “I nearly peed on myself. You’ll get to experience this, too. Wait until after that second or third baby. Every laugh will be a gamble.”

I walked over to grab my duster and shook my head. “Don’t make it sound too good, okay?”

She laughed again and pointed at the door Boone had just tantrumed through. “He must be all mixed up if that’s the mood he’s in. He’s never the grumpy one.”

“I don’t know if I’m offended, turned on, or amused.” I heard more footsteps coming down the stairs and looked up to find Remy staring at me. I hid the duster behind my back, in case that was the catalyst for Boone’s behavior, and tried to smile. It was challenging under his heated attention.

Bea stood up and rushed to stand just out of sight, but where she would definitely hear everything that was said. I could still hear her breathing as she waited desperately for something juicy to happen.

Remy walked up to me and stopped when our toes were basically touching. He leaned down and I thought he was going to hug me until I felt a tug at the duster. When I gasped and tried to snatch it back, he shot me a stern look that drenched my panties and immediately loosened my grip. “Good girl.”

I let out a breathy little sigh and searched his perfect blue eyes. “Can I please have my duster back?”

He shook his head. “No. You’re pregnant. You shouldn’t be cleaning.”

I snorted, surprising all three of us, judging by the look on Remy’s face and the sound that came from Bea’s hiding spot. “You’re joking, right? I’m so newly pregnant that an OB/GYN wouldn’t even care to see me yet. Do you really think that women get pregnant and then just sit around for nine months?”

“Maybe not all women.” His eyes swept over my body. “You’re not all women, though, sweetheart.”

I grunted. “I’ll dust if I want to.”

A dark smile transformed his face into something equally sexy and terrifying. “Go ahead.”

I swallowed. I felt like I was walking into a trap. He was holding the duster out in his open palm, practically gifting it to me. The moment my fingers touched it, however, he closed his hand around my fingers and the duster.

Leaning down, he lowered his voice so Bea wouldn’t be able to listen in. “Have you ever been spanked by something other than a hand, sweetheart? I know the answer, since your ex was a pencil-dick motherfucker. There are things upstairs in my room that are about the same weight and width of this duster. I usually prefer using my hand because I love feeling the bounce of an ass against my palm, but I’m always open for changes. A spanking with one of those implements wouldn’t come with a nice big orgasm, either. Just so you know.”

I swayed as arousal made my knees weak. My heart thumped wildly as I replayed his words in my head. Then, a part of me that was unwelcome and unknown reared its ugly head again. Placing my hand on his chest, I narrowed my eyes. “The bounce of an ass?Anyold ass, Remy? Interesting.”

Before he could reply I grabbed the duster from his hand and stormed out of the house, not all that differently from Boone. I gestured angrily with the duster and mumbled to myself as I strode towards my house. “Stupid man. Stupid men. Plural. What did I expect? One man is bad enough. Did I really think adding in two more would somehow make them less idiotic and rude? He just wants to feel the bounce of any ass under his hand, huh? Great. Love to hear it! Stupid, stupid man. I should spank him with this duster. That’d show him. Clearly, no one ever did spank him. He’s way too entitled and bratty.”

Bea’s voice called for me to slow down as she ran after me, her face red from laughter. When she caught up with me, she grabbed my arm and bent over to catch her breath. “I think you broke him!”

I huffed. “Good! Did you hear what he said?”

“No, he wasn’t speaking loud enough. I heard whatyousaid, though. After you stormed off, I snuck a peek at him and he looked like a robot that had shut down. Or like he was trying to solve a math problem in his head! Then he growled so loud the windows shook and tugged at his hair like I’ve never seen him do in all my years of working for him!”

I started to feel a little bad. “Oh…I didn’t mean to break him.”

She waved me off like I was worried about absolutely nothing. “Oh, hush. He needs it. I don’t think he’s ever been challenged before. It’s kind of fun to watch. I don’t know what’s coming next and normally I can predict them all fairly easily.”

“Bea, he thinks I should just sit around. He knows nothing about pregnancy. That’s the challenge he needs. They all do. They know nothing about babies, I’m sure.” I thought of Remy with the kids at the charity and smiled. “Remy seems to be really great with older kids, though. You should’ve seen him with those kids at the charity.”
