The serious, patient look on his face made my heart skip. He squeezed my fingers, gazing deep into my eyes. "I know there's a part of you that feels alone because you can't remember your family. Because thatbastard,"he snarled, "kidnapped you, there's a hole in your life."

My shoulders drooped, my happiness crashing and burning. "What?"

Why was he talking about this? We were having a nice afternoon out; I didn't need my insecurities and hurts pointing out.

Dev squeezed my hands again. "Now he's gone, and your life is starting to get settled," he went on, holding my gaze, "I wanted to find them for you. Your family."

I choked on a breath, and spun to stare at the huge house with its golden brick and trailing ivy. "Is this…?"

"This is your family home, babygirl," Devd confirmed with care, ducking to kiss my cheek. He surrounded me with comfort and support through the bond.

"But it's enormous," I breathed.

"They're millionaires," he laughed, his eyes bright. "They own a successful snack company."

My mouth dropped open and hung there for a few seconds.

"My family makessnacks?Oh my god. Holy shit, oh my god."

My heart raced; blood pumped in my ears. This was the best day of my entire life.

But then Dev hesitated a moment, and he squeezed my hands again. Like he was preparing me for something bad.

Gently he told me, "Their company is the leading manufacturer of chocolate covered raisins in the UK."

It took a moment for his words to compute. Millionaires. Snack makers.

Chocolate.

Covered.

Raisins.

I threw my head back and howled,"Noooooooooooo!"

That’s all, folks. Done. Finito.?
