He was alarmingly quiet, so I hurried on, "But we're a family unit, right? All six of us? Whatever kids I have, they'll have five dads as far as I'm concerned, and none of you will be a lesser dad just because your sperm didn't get cosy with one of my eggs."

Dev’s chest rumbled with a laugh. "You have a beautiful way with words, babygirl."

Oh,thank fuckhe was still calling me babygirl. It was really damn scary when he called me Aveline.

"Or," I went on, because I might as well spillallmy thoughts, "if that adds too much imbalance to our family, we can adopt. People are total dumbasses about adoption, but I-M-O, if you're making the kid's food, doing their laundry, driving them to football or ballet or whatever the fuck else, they're your child and you're their parent."

"Did you just say ‘I-M-O’ out loud?" Dev laughed.

"Or we can get a dog," I blurted, spiralling completely.3"Taj loves dogs, I love dogs, presumably you love dogs since they're your grandpuppies—"

"Avie," Dev cut in, stroking my ankle. "Don't overthink it. We'll do what feels right for us, and if that's a billion babies or no babies, that's completely fine."

I sucked in a relieved breath, melting against his back as he carried us down the steps I'd almost died racing up.Fuck you stairs, you're going on my shit-list too.

"But," he added, "I like the idea of us all being involved, and all being the fathers of any children, babies, or dogs we have."

"Me, too, Garrik."

He groaned. "I'm going to regret telling you that."

"A hundred percent," I agreed, my mood far lighter than when he'd asked the guys to leave so we could have a private chat. "How come you're not called Lucifer anyway?"

"The first devil was Lucifer. He was dethroned by the next devil, and they by the next, and so on until my grandfather. It was inherited by my father until his death, and now the title is mine."

"Ohhhhh. Lucy was a whole other guy, I get it."

Dev snorted, the sound echoing around the dark tower. "He's probably rolling in his grave hearing you call him Lucy."

"Good. He can get his ass out of it and come help us kill Eidolon."

"True death doesn't work that way, babygirl. What was your second question?"

"I just thought of a third," I replied, "so I'll ask that first. Taj's mother—"

"It was transactional. I needed an heir; she needed an escape from her parents. Taj is still in contact with her. I haven't seen her in twenty years."

"Aww, that's kinda depressing. Why are all the parents in Hell such assholes?"

"Because it's Hell," he drawled. "Every person here is dead, damned, or demonic."

Fair point.

He squeezed my leg, the sounds from below getting louder as we drew closer. It was colder down here, too. I shuddered, pressing closer to Dev's heated body.

"Oh, my second question. Are these sensitive?"

I leaned up and suctioned my mouth around the base of one of his six horns, flattening my tongue to the ridges.

"Aveline," he hissed, slamming to a stop and grabbing the railing in a vicious grip.

I made anmmmsound against his horn, sucking harder, the tip of my tongue following every ridge and curve until a strangled growl caught Dev's throat and pleasure blasted through his soul into mine. I throbbed, wet and empty, but I'd found a different sort of satisfaction.

Dev panted, his horn throbbing as he came violently. When the pleasure faded from his soul, I pulled my mouth off his horn with a pop. "So is that a yes…?"

"Bad,badbabygirl," he breathed, making my stomach squirm.

"That's for taking so long to come back to me."
