He lifted me up onto the bed and was quickly on top of me, his forearms braced on either side of my head, his eyes locked on mine. Then he leaned down and kissed me sweetly before rolling over to the side and leaving the bed to cross over toward the kitchen.

I sat up, confused at his retreat. “What are you doing?”

“Something I should’ve done weeks ago.” He came back with a small box in his hand. Opening it, he revealed an exquisite solitaire diamond ring.

To my surprise, he got down on one knee. “Addison, will you marry me?”

“Um, I hate to state the obvious—”

He chuckled before turning serious. “I know we’re technically married, but I want to do it right this time. Have you pick out the dress of your dreams, have us exchange rings and vows in front of our family and friends with an officiant who isn’t saying ‘next’ after we’re done. I want a do-over.”

“But you hate people and the whole socialization thing.” I could only imagine how uncomfortable it would make Leo to be the center of attention in a big crowd of people.

“With you by my side, there’s nothing I would hate. So what do you say? Will you be my wife? Again?”

My smile was the deliriously happy kind. “Yes, I’ll marry you. Again.”

He slipped the ring on my finger before sitting on the bed and kissing me soundly.

“Can our honeymoon be here in this cabin?”

His lips trailed down my neck. “A honeymoon here is what you want?”

“Absolutely. Maybe it’ll even snow by then.”

“Could be.”

Then I had to ask. “What do you think about waiting a few months to get pregnant again?” We’d just reconciled, and although I now believed we were committed to each other whatever the future held, I didn’t think we needed the added pressure as we navigated this new beginning.

He cupped my face. “Enjoying some time with you as my wife sounds amazing. It’ll allow me the opportunity to get counseling so I feel better about my chances of becoming the best father I can for our kids.”

I leaned in, kissing him softly until a beeping sound indicated a text message, then another. Then a third.

He heaved a deep sigh.

“Is someone trying to reach you?”

He pulled away, rolling his eyes. “Guaranteed it’s Dominic. I imagine he’s reminding me how desperate he is to have you back in the office. He was ready to oust me from the business if it meant keeping you.”

“Not true. But don’t worry. You can tell him we’re both coming back. Assuming you’re okay with me rescinding my resignation.”

He didn’t bother hiding his smirk. “It was ripped up along with the divorce papers.”

“Lucky for you I find that kind of hot.” The I’m-never-letting-you-go alpha kink was officially unlocked. To emphasize the fact, I bit down softly on his lower lip, sparking a groan from his throat.

“Lucky for me indeed, kitten.”

“Speaking of luck, have I mentioned how lucky I am to have met you?”

He framed my face, peppering light kisses over my face. “Pretty sure luck was not what you were thinking when you took your seat beside me on that flight.”

My laughter rang out. “I thought you resembled a broody, dark-haired Thor. I told myself you were not my type, but I couldn’t stop staring.”

“I thought you were a sexy—” He suddenly stopped, causing me to laugh harder.

“Hot mess,” I finished for him. “It’s okay. You can say it. Especially since I called you McGrumps.”

He suddenly got serious, leaning forward so our foreheads were touching. “The irony is it was me who was the hot mess.”
