“Keep your eyes to yourself,” Lincoln snapped from where he was bringing me over the new starter. “Here, babe. Give me a minute to slide under, and then hand me the starter.”

I watched as he laid down on his back on the creeper seat and rolled under the car. “Alright, babe,” he called up to me.

I grabbed the starter out of the box and handed it to him, watching as his muscles flexed when he lifted it up. He flashed me a sexy grin. Later, he mouthed.

I blushed before I got back to work on putting the starter in. Once it was secured, Lincoln rolled out from under the SUV. “Alright, babe, give it a crank. See if it starts.”

I grabbed the keys from the hook by the office door and strode back over to the SUV, cranking it up easily. Lincoln flashed me a smile as I put the SUV in reverse and backed it up out of the garage, going to park it.

The bearded man was on the side of the garage, smoking a cigarette when I hopped out of the SUV. He sneered at me. “You fucking both of the bosses?” he asked me.

I bristled, crossing my arms over my chest. “That’s not any of your fucking business,” I retorted.

He snorted. “Figures a woman would fucking sleep her way into a job,” he sneered. Was he fucking serious right now? “Got both men in there bending over backward just so they can slide into that pussy.” He leered at me. “I’ll do whatever you need me to do if I can dip in that tight cunt of yours, too.”

I slapped him before I even registered that my hand was raised. He dropped his cigarette and roughly gripped my arm, yanking me close to him. Instinct set in, and I spit in his face before I brought my knee up, crushing his dick. His nails bit into my arm as he brought his other hand up, wrapping it around my throat.

“Yo, what the fuck?!” the other guy shouted. “Darren, fucking let her go! Jessie! Lincoln!” the guy roared as he rushed over to us.

I clawed at Darren’s wrist, drawing blood, but his eyes were murderous as he tightened his grip. Suddenly, I was yanked back by the other guy. I coughed and spluttered, drawing much needed air into my lungs. Jessie punched Darren in the face, knocking him out cold as Lincoln rushed over to me, quickly taking me from the guy who had saved me, and lifted me into his arms.

Lincoln was shaking, his jaw clenching and unclenching as he fought for control over his anger. “Jessie should be on the phone with the police,” he told me as he set me on the edge of the desk in the office. He tilted my head back, taking a look at my neck. “Did he hit you?”

I shook my head. “No,” I rasped. Shit, talking already hurt. “Just choked me and gripped my arm,” I told him.

His blue eyes were swirling with rage. “Your neck is gong to bruise like a mother fucker, but should otherwise be fine.” He lifted my arm and then jerked back from me, pacing to the other end of the room.

“Lincoln,” I called, my voice trembling. I’d never seen him like this.

“Fuck,” he swore, shoving his greasy hands through his hair. “Give me a minute, baby,” he pleaded as he continued pacing.

“Lincoln, please come here,” I begged him.

He released a harsh sigh before he walked over to me. I opened my legs and drew him closer before I wrapped my thighs around his hips and wrapped my arms around his waist, holding him close to me. Anchoring him.

“Just stay with me like this,” I begged him. “The cops are coming; I hate cops—I don’t trust them.”

Lincoln brushed his lips to my temple. “I know, baby,” he soothed, some of his anger diminishing at my fear.

Jessie came into the office. “Cops are here,” he informed us. I lifted my head to look out the window, and sure enough, I could see blue flashing lights. I swallowed nervously. Lincoln soothed his hand over my back. “Sheriff wants to question her,” Jessie said, his jaw clenching.

I shook my head. I didn’t want to talk to any cops.

Jessie moved over to me and gently gripped my chin. “I will not let a single fucking thing happen to you again,” he swore. “Lincoln and I will be right here with you.”

“I don’t like cops,” I reiterated.

Jessie brushed his lips over mine. “Breathe,” he coaxed. “You didn’t do anything wrong,” he reminded me. That didn’t fucking matter. All cops made my skin crawl. “They just need to find out what happened, that’s all.”

Lincoln gently lifted me from the desk and carried me over to the couch in the office, setting me down on it. Jessie sat down beside me, drawing me into his arms. “Go get the sheriff,” Jessie told Lincoln.
