Two days later, we were piled in the RV, heading out on our first family adventure.

Seeing the parks and museums, the fun off-the-beaten-path attractions, learning about different lifestyles and ecosystems and, yes, how to use a CB radio and how rest stop showers worked, and all those weird, interesting things from my own childhood.

I had no idea, at the time, that we had another passenger with us.

But ten months from then, we had another sweet angel baby boy to add to our ever-growing pack.

“You know what this means,” Voss said, standing over his crib with me on the third night home from the hospital, both of us having stumbled over to him when we’d woken up in a panic that he hadn’t cried for hours and hours. “We have another hellion to look forward to in a few years.”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” I said, leaning into him.

“Me either,” he agreed.
