She swallows, her face paling.

“Well, that shut you the fuck up.”

She looks away, sucking on her bottom lip and hugging herself against the chill moving in.

I sigh heavily.

“IfI let you stay…”

My eyes sweep over her.

Shamelessly.

“What will you do for me?”

I love—lovethe way her neck and cheeks turn pink.

“My gratitude for not making me sleep outside or swim across a freezing cold bay?”

“And?”

“And if you push for something more than that, trust me that I’ll cut your dick off.”

I bite back a grin.

Yep. New York girl, through and through.

I take another slow breath, my eyes never leaving her sharp, defiant glare.

“Fine,” I finally growl. “Enter.”

I step back, nodding my chin into the depths of the house. But Melody stays where she is, eyeing me coolly.

“Would you like the bell hop to get your bags, miss,” I mutter tersely.

She chews on her lip, picking at her cuticles as her gaze stabs into the inside of the house. Then, that gaze slowly slides back to my eyes, where it hardens.

“I’m serious. You try anything and I swear to fucking God—”

“House rules,” I grunt, cutting her off. “Stay out of my shit. Stay out of my way. Stay away from my food, don’t touch my booze. And most importantly…”

I smile at her thinly.

“Most importantly, get thefuckover yourself. I’m not gonna touch you.”

But I sure as fuck am gonna think about it, every goddamn second that she spends under my roof and under my gaze.

Just as his Royal Assholeness relents, the clouds seem to open up above me, and the rain begins to pelt down.
