A few snarls met us from several sides.

We missed some,said Colton.

I was running towards the exit to this goddess forsaken shithole, watching one of the missed wolves close it.

You think? Someone kill him.

I had only some of my pack, but the others had brought with enough of their own that together we were a force I’d think twice about fucking with.

Someone shifted and charged the male trying to lock the door. I’d have to give whoever the male was credit. He had balls and wasn’t backing down.

And neither were we.

Can we just climb over the wall?Kiara asked.

The shadows of my pack members ran up alongside me.

All the females are accounted for.

We kept running as one of our wolves ripped into the guard. Another pack member grabbed the door and ripped it open.

We won’t need to, but also the unconscious females make that impossible, I said finally answering her.

We were out and into the forest.

“Where’s the triad?” I shouted.

I kept to the plan. We were to run straight, which led nowhere, and that was the point. It leads nowhere but to our own trap.

“Here, we’re here. They’re ready,” answered Flint from the Silver Lake Pack. They were some of the strongest of the allies and the only ones with witches.

We kept running. Those of us not carrying a female shifted into wolf form and they were on high alert. We could all smell the rogues, hear their steps. There were others we’d missed and they were following us.

“There are a handful of wolves still on our tail,” answered one of the other packs.

The plan had been simple. Four miles out were trucks and the ability to get to main roads. We would split up in the vehicles and our scents would be much harder to track. But that was the other part. Witches could erase the scent or cloak it or something. I’d left the plans to Colton as I figured out how to get in and get the females out.

The drugged beer had been my Trojan horse. This organization seemed far too sure of themselves and far too stupid to turn down a gift.

I still wasn’t sure how Colton had fabricated papers to get past the guards.

Are we safe yet?

I squeezed my mate tight to my chest.

Yes. Close to the trucks. Soon you will be safe.

She shivered, and I couldn’t ignore the fact it wasn’t cold.

Are you okay?

I felt the nod of her head against my chest and knew she lied from the feel of the mate bond.

You lie. What’s wrong? All the females are safe.

She finally settled into my grip and found a way to wrap her arms around my neck.

“No one is safe while they are alive,” she said.
