“What’s taking so long?” she asked, dropping a kiss on Wit’s forehead.

“These guys had questions about…” Wit began.

Ayelish looked at the group and rolled her eyes. “If you’re done harassing my fiancé, I’ll ask you to kindly leave, unless you were tryin’ to get a glimpse of what was under the blankets… Which now that he’s dressed, I imagine you did. You could’ve just asked, though, and saved us all this embarrassing moment. I would have described every inch of him. Everyone to the table, please. Breakfast is done.”

She was halfway out the bedroom door when Cane caught her attention. “Wait. Fiancé?”

“Yeah,” she said matter-of-factly. “I’m going to marry him.”

Wit’s brow shot up, and his eyes were as wide as his grin. “You are?”

Serious as could be, she looked him in the eye as if this was old news. “I am.”

“Yeehaw,” Wit hollered.

“Already got the wives club back at Watermark planning.” Her serious demeanor never wavered. “Let’s clear your name quick. Wedding’s next Saturday.”

With that, she left the room, and the men stood in utter shock… and perhaps awe.

“Boys!” Ayelish yelled from the hallway, summoning them all to follow, and they did.

As Wit made it to the doorway, Cane turned and said in a low voice, “Congrats.”

“Thanks.” Wit nodded.

“You’re going to make a great dad,” Cane added.

Surprise filled Wit’s expression. “Wait, she told you?”

“Killion did,” Cane answered as Killion pointed out the cameras once again.

“Right.” Wit laughed. “I thought you were just congratulating me on the weddin’ since we’re all gonna be brothers.”

“Don’t get ahead of yourself. There’s a whole line of O’Reillys you need to get through alive –– starting with Aye’s other half, Ash. She’s going to kick your ass. Lucky for you, she’s bringing in the Dirty Dozen right now. Good luck, brother.” Cane chuckled.

“Right,” Wit acknowledged with trepidation. “But… do I have your blessin’?”

“Little late asking for that, don’t you think?” Cane replied with a smirk. “But yeah, you got it. Mostly because I’m afraid of what Ayelish will do if…”

“Yeah, yeah.” Wit grinned. “I’m afraid of that redheaded temper too sometimes.”

“Right? And her and Ashlyn together is fucking nuts.”

“Let’s hurry up with breakfast. We’re escorting you into Watermark. Want to debrief before shit gets too crazy.”

“Ah.” Wit followed Cane through the common areas to where everyone had gathered for breakfast. “So that’s why everyone is here.”

“Yeah. Got a lead.”

Wit was intrigued. “Gimme a heads-up?”

“Dirty Dozen is coming in later –– that’s where Ash is. She’s leading them in under the radar.” Cane halted as they entered the dining room where everyone was seated and eating. “They have a similar problem on their end. Just came up.”

“Oh yeah? What’s that?” Wit inquired.

“Hen. He has a bounty on him. Capital murder. Twenty-five mill for anyone who brings him in alive.”

Wit’s jaw gaped open. “Oh shit.”
