“It kind of has. Your life has been turned completely upside down, Wit.”

He cradled her in his arms and stood to go inside, the cat and squirrel on their heels. “Let’s get some sleep. Sun’s coming up in a couple of hours, and we’re meeting back in the Lair. You need rest. You’re growin’ our little miracle in there.”

As they approached the bedroom, her head grew heavier, and he kissed the top of her head before placing her in their bed. “I love you, darlin’. More than life.”

He stepped out of his boots and shed his clothes and crawled in the bed next to her and held her.

“I love you too,” she whispered, nuzzling into his chest. “I can’t wait to be your wife and watch you with our baby. Everything’s going to be okay.”

“I know, darlin’.” He kissed her head again and pulled her in tighter. “I’ll make sure of it.”

When Ayelish woketo the sound of the shower and the bed empty next to her, she put on a wicked grin and found her way to Wit. She leaned in the doorway a spell and watched him, taking in the sight of him. His broad shoulders, chiseled back, narrow hips, and rock-hard ass. She bit her bottom lip and sauntered farther in, dropping the few clothes she had on along the way.

The large glass shower was completely open and she strode right in, wrapping her arms around him from behind, her hands quick to roam, feeling on the front what she couldn’t see from the back.

“Took you long enough,” he said over his shoulder, lacing his fingers through hers as they grazed his abs and traveled farther down. “I thought you were going to stand in that doorway forever.”

“You heard me in the doorway, huh?” she said, kissing his back.

Wit turned in her arms, facing her, “I knew the second you woke, darlin’. Felt it in my soul.”

He quickly lifted her and wrapped her around his waist while he took her mouth.

She pulled away. “In your soul? How does that work?”

He turned her back to the wall and pinned her there just as she sank down on him, earning a primal moan.

“Angel, I’m barely breathin’ until you’re awake –– hardly livin’. You make my heart beat and put the air in my lungs I need to breathe.”

Her mouth trailed his neck, down his collarbone.

“Because you need this?” Her tongue scathed his chest, and she nipped at his perfect jaw.

“Darlin’, I need all of you. Every fuckin’ inch.” He leaned in to her and rode her faster, lifting her and dropping her over his length, causing her to cry out in pleasure. "And that sound right there sets me on fire.”

“Wit?” she panted, and he paused. “Stop talking.”

He smiled wide and did as he was asked while he made slow wicked love to her long into the morning and long after the warm water turned cold.

Wit enteredthe Lair hand in hand with Ayelish to find the team had already assembled and were fast at work. He stood there, stunned at the operation, watching how they worked so seamlessly and expeditiously, all for him and his newly realized brother.

“Hey,” Relay said from her computer, her words rattling off quickly. “Come on in. We have a lot to go over. Hen should be here in a few.”

Wide eyed and disheveled, Killion spoke with the same level of intensity. “We think we got our next break. This ought to be good. I think this is it. The break we’ve needed.”

“Definitely the break we needed,” Relay said quickly and with odd energy. “Hey, what if…?”

“It’s not?” Killion rushed. “I thought of that too. But it has to be something because if you do a valuation of the pros and cons, you see the pros far outweigh the cons, and the analytics propose that the cons are the least likely scenario of all, so I think we have a winner. I bet it’s a winner. I think we’re safe.”

“We’re safe,” Relay reiterated, eyes wild. “Definitely a winner.”

“You two… okay?” Wit asked as he and Ayelish took a seat at the table.

“Great,” they said at the same time and broke into laughter when they did.
