Rainy burst into laughter again. “No, Killion.”

She pointed at the twins still parked in their stroller and hadn’t been moved to their bassinets. Like the two had been listening and took their cue, they began to fuss.

Rainy bit her bottom lip and grinned when Killion offered her a confused look. “How did you know they were going to do that?”

“Because they either need to eat or I need to pump.” She sat up next to him, adjusting her rumpled shirt. “Last feed of the night, fresh diapers, then they’re down for a good… four to five hours.”

He pulled her close. “You got plans later?”

“Maybe.” She shrugged. “Hot date with a hot guy.”

“Hot, huh?”

“So hot.” She kissed him. “He has a huge… brain.”

“Sounds sexy.” He pulled her to his lap so she could straddle him.

“Oh yeah. He’s so deliciously… smart. Drives me wild,” she said between teasing kisses.

“Wild? You sound like you really like this guy.”

“So much I had his babies.”

“Wait.” He paused. “You had my babies. It’s me, isn’t it?”

Rainy’s expression froze as she took in his serious demeanor. “Of course it’s you, Killion. You knew I was talking about you, right?”

Killion maintained a stone-faced stare until he couldn’t, and an ornery grin emerged. “Gotcha.”

“Hand me your son,” she said, swatting at his chest. “I’ll feed him while you change your daughter, then we can switch.”

Killion got off the bed and went to the stroller, where he found both babies stirring while Rainy scooted to the head of the bed. He reached for Meyer while promising Jolie he’d be right back and handed him to Rainy. Once settled in her arms, Killion kissed them both and went back for Jolie.

“For the record…” Rainy said, grabbing Killion’s attention. “I like the right side of the bed.”

“The right side?” Killion sat at the foot of the bed, Jolie in his arms, and asked, “The right side if you’re facing the bed, or the right side if you’re facing away from the bed?”

Rainy guffawed at the question and Killion being literal Killion. “The right side as in, I’m to your right…”

Killion grinned, and Rainy realized he was yet again teasing her. She picked up a pillow and raised it above her head to toss at him.

With Jolie in one arm, he used the other to shield her. “Time-out. Time-out. Baby.”

“You’re lucky you’re holding our daughter, O’Reilly,” she said, tossing the pillow aside.

Killion’s stare was fixed on Rainy. “I sure am. So damn lucky.”

“In other words, we’re no closer now than we were last night,” Killion quizzed as the team had a quick meeting in the Lair. “One of our drones, sold to the DOJ, was stolen and used against us. To be more clear, a drone I developed and sold was used against me and my family, specifically.”

“We do have an update,” Cane mumbled. “Not drone related, but we need to discuss it.”

“Go for it,” Killion said. “We’re getting to the point where things can’t get much worse, and nothing really surprises me.”

Cane nodded. “We lost the witnesses. The arrests we made from Finn’s case.”

“The guys who ran him off the road?” Killion asked.
