“I’mdefinitelyon team Jacob,” I told the wolf.

He growled at me.

Right.

Werewolves were possessive—stupidly possessive.

That was both a sexy and annoying thing.

I’d get used to it.

Or maybe I’d fight with Kai about it for the rest of my life; only time would tell.

Then again, he might not want me.

As far as I knew, things hadn’t been easy with his last mate. She sounded like a bitch. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t want to be with me at all. And honestly, it would be fine.

I mean, I’d have to meet up with him every day or two to drink his blood. Icouldtry drinking someone else’s, but it might make me sick. But if he just wanted to be friends, I guess I could handle it.

We would end up being sex friends though, because of how horny my venom made him.

And if we were already sex friends, why not just take it all the way to actual mates? I would definitely be interested in the emotional perks of having a mate. Friendship. Loyalty. Shared laughter. Safety. Security.

Love.

Yeah, I was definitely interested in that shit.

Maybe I shouldn’t bring up the sex friend option at all.

I stepped into the larger of the two bedrooms, heading for my closet. I was moving faster than I had in ages, even without trying, and it felt incredible.

Being able to walk without the dizziness? Priceless. Absolutely priceless.

I grabbed one of my favorite dresses from the closet—I was a sucker for all things floral and pink even though they tended to looked kind of stupid with my naturally bright-orange hair. And I only owned one pair of jeans, since I despised them whole-heartedly. They were so uncomfortable.

Dresses meant freedom, and they showed off my legs. Since I was tall and slim, without much in the way of boobs, I’d always thought my legs were my best feature.

The dress I tugged over my head fell to the middle of my thighs, and I smoothed it down on the way to my dresser. There, I grabbed a hair tie and brush, quickly putting my hair up in a ponytail.

Stepping back, I studied my reflection.

Damn.

I looked better than I had in a long, long time, even without makeup. With a little mascara, I could take over the world.

That would have to wait, though. I didn’t want Lucas dealing with some punk kid who thought he was entitled to steal something in the name of sharing.

Or the punk’s mom.

I stepped up to the door, but halted when Kai growled at me.

“What?” I asked.

He growled again.

I sighed. “You can’t just growl. I don’t speak wolf, dude. Just tell me what has you pissed off so we can save your poor kid from Pack Mom 3.”

The wolf stepped closer to me, and poked my pelvis with his nose.
