He chuckled. “We’ve had this conversation before.”

I scowled at him.

“Most of us were the pathetic men who kept panting after women who didn’t want us too, Summer. You showed us that women struggle with the same feelings we do; that sure as hell earned you the respect of most of the men. Add your wicked sense of humor, these gorgeous mismatched eyes, and the fact that you wear the scent of Vuvim as your personal perfume?” His eyes gleamed as he stepped closer to me, his fingers wrapping around my backside, slipping beneath the towel and squeezing. “You will soon be my people’s obsession. No one will dare mess with you.”

“The council should be approachable, though,” I pointed out.

He lifted an eyebrow at me. “Why?”

I blinked.

Honestly, I didn’t have a good answer for that one.

“The council should befair,” he corrected. “Perhaps the next time they approach me, I’ll suggest they ask my mate to fill my position.”

“Don’t do that,” I warned.

“Why not?”

I scowled. “I don’t know. Just… don’t.”

He chuckled, and kissed me. “Come to bed with me. I want to feel you wrapped around my cock again before we fall asleep.”

I pushed at his face—and then dragged it back to me, and kissed it.

More sex?

Yes please.

I was one hundred percent convinced that it was the best distraction from my uncertainty and uncontrollable emotions.

We left earlythe next morning—me dressed in my tank top and shorts. Since I planned on fighting, I decided I didn’t really want to risk flashing my vag at any random men or women in the female fae outfit.

Plus, I was pretty sure Remmo would end up beating someone’s head in if I wore those tiny panties, and I’d rather avoid that outcome.

We stopped to eat a few lilanos on the way, and still made it before most of the fae were awake.

Dakota flew down from her perch in the trees as we arrived, throwing her arms around me for a huge hug and giving me a fierce grin as she looked between me and Remmo. She was back in her seelie tank top and shorts, with her long, straight hair blowing in the wind. “Decided to make things official, huh?”

“She finally talked me into it,” Remmo drawled, wrapping an arm around my waist and tugging me to his chest.

Me and Dakota both laughed.

The grin she gave me was so damn genuine that it made my throat swell. “I’m sure.”

“So has Naomi broken the bond yet?” I asked her, as we all started walking further into the forest.

“Nope. It’ll break during the full moon, so we still have a few weeks. Aev agreed to step down as king a few days ago, and the unseelies are pestering the generals to become the new council. They’re waiting for you two, though.”

Remmo grimaced, but I nodded.

After we’d talked to his friend in the forest, I figured that would be the case.

“How’s North doing, after losing all those brands?”

“Mare visited her last week and said that she and Priel are doing great. She’s relieved to have the brands removed so she doesn’t have to lead, but she’s having a harder time focusing her future-sight now,” Dakota explained. “They’re staying in his cave for a while, but will come out if we need them. The chaos here doesn’t really suit them, so they’re happier there.”

I nodded. That, I could definitely see.
