“Is that the real reason?”
It's not. Divina will marry Alexander Kasparov, the second son of another Bratva wing. From a daughter of a brigadier, she’ll only become a wife to a patsanov. “When we were in high school, you said you don’t want this life,” Divina reminds me. “Why do you want to succeed Papa now?”
“It’s the only way to protect all of you, Sister.”
"Alexander can protect us. You don't need to marry some ugly fat girl," Divina almost yells – showing her frustration with my resistance.
Papa's support is the main reason I have to marry Sasha. But now, Divina added another one. I would love to see her break when the "ugly fat girl" becomes my wife and, in a way, her boss.
“I will surely marry her. It’s the best way to taunt you for the rest of your life,” I tease.
It is a joke, but Divina doesn't take it as one. Her face becomes more serious. "I will never let you marry that fat girl!"
I glare at Divina. Her words were not fumes of her anger but her warning.
There are many ways to stop me from marrying Sasha. She can get married before our engagement, but there are ways to break it. The surest way to prevent our marriage is…
To kill her.
It should not matter if she lives or dies, but I want her alive. I want her as my wife.
