There’s an expression of surprise on his face and then he says, “Yes. We will.”
Chapter Fifty-Three
Maggie
Declan insisted oncarrying me from the car into the apartment.
“I’m allowed to be on my feet for five minutes,” I grumble. He just ignores me and carries me back to the bedroom. I gasp as I look around.
“Did you do this?” I ask.
He sets me down on the bed and adjusts a blanket over me – a new blanket, wonderfully soft and fluffy. It’s not the only new addition to my bedroom. A new TV sits on the other side of the bed.
When he sees me eyeing it, he says, “I know you’re opposed to having a TV in the bedroom, but I figured you’ll lose your mind if you don’t have something to watch.”
I can’t look at him right now. “Yes. Of course, thank you.”
My eyes fall on a mini fridge in the corner.
“I put water and sparkling waters in the fridge. I can add some snacks and other things – whatever sounds good to you.”
There’s a basket of snacks on my nightstand and a stack of new books. He pulls a bin from behind the nightstand, and I nearly burst into tears.
I can see him out of the corner of my eye. He looks at me with worry – like he’s not sure if he’s upset me. He shifts from one foot to the other. “It’s just some art supplies. I tried to think of things you could do in bed.”
I sift through – sketch pads, pencils, markers, chalk, colored pencils. He’s added a few adult coloring books too and a beautiful journal and pen set. I turn the journal over in my hands before looking up at him.
He clears his throat and holds up his finger, so I don’t speak. “You haven’t seen the best part yet.”
He grabs something from the closet and holds it up. I start laughing. “Is that a pregnancy pillow?”
He grins. “If you want to know a secret, I’m considering getting one for myself.”
I laugh harder. “I won’t tell anyone if you don’t tell anyone I plan to use it for the rest of my life.”
He makes a motion over his mouth like he’s zipping his lips and then places the pillow on my bed.
