“I don’t think so,” I say. Before I can elaborate, Declan says, “Grapefruit. She’s obsessed with grapefruit right now. That’s a bit odd, isn’t it?”

“Like the actual fruit or grapefruit-flavored things?”

Olivia furrows her brow. “How many grapefruit flavored things are there?”

Will shrugs.

“Just the fruit,” I say. “I have to limit myself to one a day or it upsets my stomach, but I could eat barrels of them right now.”

Will laughs.

“She eats them like oranges,” Declan says.

I giggle. “Yeah, I do. I peel them and eat the whole thing. It’s terribly messy but so good.”

“Grapefruit is healthy. That’s a plus,” Olivia says.

“Right, that’s what I keep saying,” I reply.

Declan hands out plates, and we start to pass around the food.

“Declan gave us strict warnings about no spicy food.”

I roll my eyes. “I think he’s being a little dramatic.”

“You have the rest of your life to eat spicy foods,” he says, giving me a look.

I shoot him a look right back.

“Any other cravings?” Olivia asks.

“Ice cream, of course,” I say.

“Of course, I could have lived off salted caramel gelato when I was pregnant.”

I tilt my head back and groan. “Oh god, that sounds amazing. Declan, let’s put that on the grocery list.”

He gives me a little nod and smile.

“I think we kept the gelato shop near our house in business when Olivia was pregnant,” Will jokes.

Olivia nods. “Yeah. They knew what I wanted as soon as I walked in the door.”

I laugh. “Did you have any other cravings?”

“Hamburgers. God. I swear nothing ever tasted better in my entire life than a hamburger when I was pregnant.”

I laugh. “Now you’re making me crave it. Declan, add that to the list too.”

He smiles while looking down at his plate, the corners of his eyes crinkling. I was worried tonight might be awkward with everything that’s happened, but it feels like old times.

After dinner, they follow us back to the nursery. Olivia gasps when they walk in.

“Oh, my god, this is amazing,” she says as she turns in a circle to take it all in.

“Declan did a bunch today. He did a great job. I’m really impressed.” I gesture toward the forest scene he painted today.

“Declan, who knew you were such a good artist?” Will says.
