“Oh my god, this isthe best thing I’ve ever tasted.” She leans her head back and moans.

I just watch her for a minute. “It’s because you’re drunk.”

She laughs. “Yeah. It is.”

We’re sitting on a bench in the National Mall watching tourist and eating breakfast sandwiches. She’s wearing huge, oversized sunglasses. Her stilettos are sitting beside her on the bench. My bowtie hangs loose around my neck.

“What a night,” she says.

“What a day,” I say.

She glances over at me. “It really was. Did it feel like a dream to you too?”

I nod. “Pretty amazing though.”

She takes another bite of her sandwich and watches a big school group walk by.

“I never thought I’d be on the stage during the Presidential Inauguration,” she says.

“Me neither.”

She starts laughing.
