Chapter Twenty-Seven

Maggie

“Hungry?” He says ashe opens the fridge door. It’s filled with groceries and containers of food. I tilt my head to the side trying to figure out how it got there.

“Mariana makes the best tamales. She wraps them in banana leaves, and they are so unbelievably good. Want one?”

“Sure.” I’m trying to work out who Mariana is. I’m guessing she arranged for all the groceries. He’s only wearing his underwear, and I’m in my robe - nothing underneath. I can feel him dripping out of me from when he just bent me over the table and took me for the third time today. He’s returned to his normal self – all the nerves seemed to have disappeared.

As he’s warming up the food, I step behind him and wrap my arms around his waist. “I can still feel you.”

He turns around and looks a little alarmed.

I squeeze him tighter and say, “Dripping out of me.”

He swallows hard once and says, “I’d never really given it much thought, but honestly, that’s so fucking hot.”

He pulls me into his chest and then I say, “See. This is fun.”

He laughs loudly and says, “Yes, Buttercup. It really is.”

“You can’t really think I’m going to be able to do this?” I say as I hold onto the surfboard for dear life.

He’s sitting on his, straddling it, in the water.

“Why not, Maggie?”

“Because I just fell off sitting on it, and now I can’t get back on.”

He laughs. “That’s a solid point, but I’m not letting you off the hook. I think you’ll get it.”

I walk back to where I can stand and pull myself back on it so I can sit on top of it, copying him.

“See, there you go.”

“Declan, I’m just sitting on it. That’s not like a great achievement.”

He flashes me a big smile. “Baby steps.”

I shoot him a look and then he says, “You’re not even trying to stand up today. Just get used to being on the board.”

“What do you think I’m doing?” I fire back.

He points to a wave. “Just try to ride this one in on your stomach. You’ve got this.”
