“Your mouth is filthy,” I respond, looking at Finn, who has his length in his hand as he watches us.

When Derek is all the way inside me, Ilet out a long and low moan. “Fuck, you feel like heaven,” he growls, pulling out and then sinking back in.

Since I don’t want him to go slow, I thrust my hips against him, faster, hoping he picks up speed. He pumps in and out, telling me how much he loves me and how precious I am to him. Suddenly, everything becomes too much, his words, his body, and the way he drives us toward the vast unknown.

I explode and so does he. He groans in my mouth before taking it and kissing me. Slow, deep. His hot cum spilling inside me.

“I love you,” he says.

“I love you too,” I finally say it freely, without having to worry about betraying anyone.

I extend my hand, hoping Finn will come to us. He does and lies next to me, taking my mouth and whispering, “Thank you. Thank you for giving us a second chance.”

ChapterSixty-One

Finnegan

As Piper fallsasleep in my arms, I can’t help but feel a sense of contentment washing over me. Her warmth envelops me, and I never want to let go. So, I carefully lift her up and lay her on the bed, sliding beside her. Derek lies on the other side of her. He kisses her temple, gives me a peck on the lips, and falls asleep almost immediately.

I wrap my arm around Piper’s waist, pulling her close to me, relishing in the feel of her soft breaths against my chest.

I force myself to sleep, but it’s impossible. My mind is racing. I haven’t slept well in days, and jet lag is making it even harder for me to adjust. I lie there for hours, listening to the sound of Piper and Derek’s steady breaths, trying to find a way to quiet my mind. But it’s no use.

Around four in the morning, I give up on trying to sleep and slip out of bed, leaving Piper and Derek asleep. I grab my keys and head to the rental to pick up some clothes for Derek and me.

As I’m about to leave, my phone starts ringing. It’s my dad.

“Morning, Dad,” I greet him.

“I wanted to check on you,” Dad says with concern in his voice. “I heard from Eros that you’re taking a leave of absence for the next six months.”

I take a deep breath and say, “Eros has a loose tongue.” I like him a lot. We’re not like brothers, but we’re closer now that he’s helping me with Dad’s companies.

The entire Brassard family is now my family, and though I skip a few family functions—like their crazy week without electronics in some remote place of the world—I hope to stay close to them, but I’m finally opening up to the possibilities to be a part of the St. James’ family too.

“He’s just concerned about you. Sometimes you…” his voice trails off, and he lets out a loud breath. “We all worry about you. And before you say you’re not fragile, we understand. You just tend to bottle up your feelings, and we never know what you’re thinking.”

I chuckle. “Fair enough. It’s a long story. Why don’t I tell you everything while I run an errand? I want to be back at Piper’s place before she wakes up.”

“Piper?” he asks with excitement. “Then, I’m glad you took some time off. Now, why don’t you start from the beginning.”

As I start the car, I tell Dad everything that’s happened in the past few days. I tell him how Derek and I are finally in a relationship and how we’re working to convince Piper that she belongs with us. I can hear the excitement in his voice as I mention Piper’s name. He’s fond of Piper and Derek and he’s eager to hear more about our new relationship.

“How do you feel after reading and watching all those things about your past?”

His question brings up mixed emotions. I take a moment to collect my thoughts before answering. “It helped me understand Piper, our relationship, and also my family’s dynamic,” I finally say, trying to keep my voice steady. “They loved Archer, but they miss what he represented. I want to get to know them, but I hope they understand I’m not him—and I can no longer be the one to keep them together.”

I can't help but think about Piper and her role in my family. Will she continue to be the glue that keeps them together? It’s hard to know because even though I understand my feelings toward her, we still have a long way to go in terms of our relationship.

I want to take the time to learn everything about her through my—Finn’s—eyes, including her smiles, her gestures, and her moods. It might take us a lifetime, but I hope she gives me that chance.

My dad clears his throat, bringing me back to the present. “Since we’re talking about them… Donovan St. James keeps calling,” he says, his tone serious. “He says it’s important. You should try to reach out to him too.” I feel a knot form in my stomach at the mention of my biological father.

“You’re a good person,” I say, glancing at the horizon. “I’m not sure if I would encourage my adopted son to get to know their biological family.”

“You would,” he says, with a hint of a smile in his voice.

Though he can’t see me, I nod, knowing he’s right. “Let me call you later,” I say before disconnecting the call.
